Stem Question

I am pretty new to growing and have a questions on stems. I have two plants that I have been grooming for mothers they are the same age taken as clones. My question is 1 plant has a purpleish stem and the other a green stem. Why is that and is there a problem with either? and what causes that. If pics are needs i will get one up tonight.

Purple stems are usually a result of either low temps, genetics, or phosphorous deficiency. It doesnt sound like it is genetics if they are from the same clone mother. So it is probably a P def. which is often caused by low temps locking the P out.

Trich thanks for the info. what would consider to be low temps. the lowest it gets where the plans are would be 65 deg fer. Is that too low of a temp?

low temps would be 55* in the soil, best soil temp is 65 to 68*
check the ph at the drain of your next watering 6.5 is where you want it

Ideal temps would be 70-76 imo for vegging plants. Not to mention that wet soil will be colder than dry soil. Try to bring the temps up some but imho purple stems are not a problem unless other problems arise.

thanks Trich, Bitpoop and Dr Dog. I have been watching them very closly i havent seen any change other then the stem color. I do go out tonight and hired some cheap labor in the form of lady bugs. I have a small spider mite problem and I know they are stressing my plants. So I am releasing them tonight into the room to let them start working. I will keep an eye on the temps but the 2 plants are right next to one another I would have expecxted to see the stem color on both.
