Stelath under door air intake?

I have a closet and I want to suck in fresh air from the crack under the door. The crack is .8'' high and 2' wide. That is an 18' opening and big enough for what I need. Aren't you supposed to have your intake a ratio bigger then your exhaust? Anyway I want to actively suck air through this opening while keeping it quiet and no light leaks. I was thinking about making a box for the other side of the door, the door will close flush against it and a blower can be attached to the box. Anyone done this before?

My closet has only that space on the bottom and everything else fits tight. I just never close it all the way. Ther is a brick and wires in the way.

I would have to exhaust through that opening. It would work, but have no passive safety effect should the fan fail. A jet of warm air coming out towards my bed would be nice.

What would you guys do about light leaking out? I'm going to vent through the ceiling with one of those panasonic whisper fans. I guess if I have one of those I just need a passive intake, so my problem is how do I suck air from under the door while no light leaks out? Any tricks?

light trap

light trap

I'm growing in grow boxes which are in my closet. I build the light traps into them. You could build a nice little one that would just screw onto the bottom of the inside of your closet door. Go to your home improvement store and get a sheet of HVAC metal (galvanized mild steal). Get a tin snips. Get a role of foil HVAC tape. Get a small can of flat black oil-based paint (Rustolium). Then, get a roll of nephrene rubber garage door gasket. You will use that as a sweep against the floor. The light trap should be a kind of "S" passage made of sheet metal taped together with foil tape. As you put it together, paint the inside with the black paint. Those bathroom fans are kinda week for grow ops. I wouldn't trust 'em with more than 400 watts, depending on your situation. You may have a "passive thermal chimney" effect.

Ended up making a light trap with 2x2'' and some thin plywood. Made it flat black with 2 90 degree turns that block light. Works great.
