So I have the idea of breaking my 400w HPS & my 4" 172cfm inline out of storage and slapping them in a 3x3 tent,I've got it figured for the most part and would like some advice and constructive criticism on my design...

GROW SPACE:
3'x3' grow tent

Lighting & Fans:
400w HPS w/6" A/C Reflector
4" 172cfm ecoplus inline centrifugal
6" clip on fan

Grow Medium:
Either FFOF or Pro-Mix

Fertilizer/Nutrients:
Complete line of FF products (Big Bloom,Grow Big,Tiger Bloom & Open Seasame,Beastie Bloom,Cha-Ching)

I plan on hanging the A/C 400w HPS in the 3'x3' tent & using the 4" 172cfm fan soley for Air-cooling the light by bringing 72°-75°F room air over the bulb and exhausting through a window exhaust box exhausting the hot air outside.

I am then wanting to use a seperate 4" inline centrifugal and pair it to a Can33 or similar carbon filter and ventilate the tent using this setup and having passive intakes again bringing in 70°-75°F room temp air and again exhausting through a wimdow exhaust box to the outside.

Strain I'll be using is Aurora Indica and I'm eitjer going to do 4 short bushes or 2 to 4 plant scrog or 32 6" planter popsicle sticks, looking to get between 6-10 zips a harvest.

The only thing i will comment on cuz everything else sounds kosher is the venting the light . make sure you seal up the light & vents very well cuz they do leak air & you could be blowing the stink outside .

good luck dude :)

Have you considered having an open/glassless reflector and just cooling the whole tent? You could put a scrubber in the top of it and pull out through that.

I'm trying to find ways to run glassless myself. I think you lose too much light through them. Winter is coming anyway and the extra heat isn't going to hurt.

That sounds like my setup just without the air-cooling. The fan pulls all the air in the tent out through the filter so no stink gets out. I keep the small clip fan running right under the light to help move the heat out. Very simple and very effective.

So I went glassless and I have a 6" fan connected to a duct that comes from a/c (runs when lights on) that will push really cold air into room and lots of it (room is completely air tight encased in 8" of concrete with only one door in). I have a 6" exhaust w/ carbon + 8" big blue O3 generator (growing cheese). I had to put a speedster on the intake fan. Thinking about putting a scrubber near the exit or other side or uppin to an 8" for exhaust. Falls almost here, so I will just suck outdoor air soon. Kinda odd that my a/c units humming when it's 70 out lol.

So a lot of growers have been telling me no glass is better (so far I agree). Hydro-store guys say that's not true. I know that glass will reduce uv rays. Could uv rays increase trich production as a way for the plant to protect the seed (well it "thinks" there's gonna be one)?
