start w/feminized or reg seeds?(the facts)

I just want to explain something that might be really inportant to some about to order seeds and start growing. Growers that go with feminized seeds usually/only have two reasons! neither worth the risk!

First No males... they feel paranoid that mabey its difficult to identify and pull males before they mature enough todrop pollen(seeding your crop). This is not even close to being true. Males will start to show alittle earlier than females and theyre easy as hell to identify and kill. especially way before they mature enough!

Second reason being no wasted growing space males take up.. This like the first is more an excuse than a reason.. Males like I said show quickly before females AND way before any growing space is kicking out buds! When growing from seed you are usually searching for a keeper female that produces. Any males from reg seed are long gone before ANY space is producing.

Ive heard many bad experiences w/feminized going herm somewhere down the road pollinating the entire crop with worthless seeds.

The grow environment that seeds are grow in can influence the final sexual outcome of reg or feminized seeds! The more stressful the environment = more males and hermaphrodites. New growers usually are just learning to grow and will make mistakes. All growers are capable of blackouts, light leaks, temp probs, and all these are stressers on MJ plants. So please beware there are profem growers that will come in this thread to break my balls but what it comes down to is the pro's and cons of using feminized seeds.
There are only 2 pro's(excuses) Do your homework before giving your cash, time and effort into using a certain breeders genetics! The worst thing that can happen to a grower is getting busted and having a herm prob.herms can appear anytime down the road and can be hidden fron view and really hard to spot before it pollinates. Feminized are much more prone to going herm, do to bad parent selection and the fact that the grow environment has a say-so! do your homewrk, these are facts guys! Good luck!

PS there are grow tips to improve grow environment influences and get a much higher female %.(from all seeds reg or fem)

very informative, plus if you want you can have a seperate grow area for the males that you do like so you can collect pollen for future uses of breeding.

Lol, I think I'd rather have a herm problem than get busted... Not even on the same scale brotha.

And everything you just said is wrong buddy. Your argument of males not taking up space is so blazed, it's hard to clear thru ur smoke & see what ur saying. Plants veg, ur male ain't gunn a tell u he's a male until u flower..... He's still taking up valuable space in veg, if that's ur situation. Second, if u go with the right breeder u won't see herms anymore than u would with regular seeds. Maybe back in 2002 this was the case, but breeding and feminizing techniques have vastly improved stability. Why would u post something like this? I don't even have any fem seeds in my gardens right now, but this was so ridiculous I had to say something.. In fact I'm gunn a go buy a 5 pack of some fem CSG gear right now.

hey stag- gotta agree with canibus and others. if ya buy quality genetics from quality breeders, i think the odds of problems are equal- maybe even less. i do 1 grow a year and i gotta maximize time and space. over the last 5 years i've found 1 seed in an la confidential fem, however i got 9 males and 1 female from a pack of dg/gypsy c99's. which problem was worse- you do the math!

Wtf?

regular seeds can herm, and males do waste space in some setups.

Newbs should start with some bag seed first to see if they can handle a plant, then move onto buying seeds.

Doing research on a breeder is of top impotance though.

I love it when a self-proclaimed 'expert' feels the need to put up his/her opinions and feelings about a subject and calls it 'the facts'.
Especially when your 'facts' are crap like this quote:

Ive heard many bad experiences w/feminized going herm somewhere down the road pollinating the entire crop with worthless seeds.

Third-hand reports or reading something on the internet are not facts unless you know every factor that might be pertinent in that grow.

Males DO take up space. I've had several great plants from feminized seeds, and no herm problems. And I purposely stressed them before deciding to keep them longer-term. It all depends on good breeding, the same as with regular seeds.
It's just not a good/bad black or white issue like you want it to be.
And your opinion is not 'the facts'.

Facts huh? Fact is dialing in the environment is most likely where you find the cause of these problems. Fem seeds work just fine but having males to make F2's is better! Dont believe the hype, get a pack and see for yourself.NS
