Start of nute burn or heat stress?

Updated question about 10 posts down

Setup:
Drip hydro in rockwool
GH Flora nutes (Veg right now)
5.8-6.5 pH (sometimes it jumps up)
35-45% rH
75 F temp
No ec/ppm info, sorry - using about 3/4 strength nutes

They are 2-3 weeks into Veg and I'm starting to notice leaf curling. It also looks like the leafs are drying out (notice the scaly texture). I switched from the starting fluoro lights to a 400w HPS about 4 days ago. It was about 17" away from the plants at first but is now about 25".

It looks like overwatering. How many times/duration are you running the drippers? Also it looks like you may have the beginnings of a magnesium deficiency.
I dont think it is heat stress because your temps sound like theyre in good range. And the leafs usually curl upwards much more than the last pic. And nute burn usually burns the tips of the leafs first.

First glance - I'd say overwatering also.

Might have been an imballance with heat/light/water.

Leave the light where it is till you stabilize and then drop it a couple inches every few days - or - let the plant grow up to it.

Slower is better, recovery time sucks.

thanks for the quick replies. I didnt even think about it being over watering, due to the leaves looking so dry. The drippers turn on every 4 hours (6 times a day total) for 15 minutes. I also mist them a few times a day.

What would you recommend?

you mentioned the light getting moved up - kinda leads me to believe the plant was recently intro'd to the light - right?

if so - let it stabilize and get happy - then adjust

This is assuming the plant was happy prior to the stress - which kinda indicates you got in a rush and set the light too low to start.

SLOWLY

How often do you think the drippers should run for a rock wool medium? I heard it's almost impossible to over water in rock wool due to it's draining characteristics.

them droopy leaves are saying overwatering.

the cupping leaves are saying ph problems.

If you are letting the mix get to 6.5.. thats kinda high for rock wool.

the plants look like they are doing much better now, however some of the leaves are still bending in half.
