Ive had this idea for sea of green setup, to take some cuttings and put them under 24hrs of light for the first 5-7 days, and then switching to 12/12 until they are rootbound enough to transplant (usually at 10-14 days for most people). Then they would be put into the flower room. I would think this method would make for shorter plants, and shorter flower cycle. The transplant would help keep the stretch down too.
The idea with this is to grow SOG style. This method could grant you the capability of doing higher numbers of plants per sq. ft..
It could also work out well with some of the more sativa dom hybrids or even 100% sativas. Some stuff likes to grow one big columnar bud when flowered from clone, but some vareties stretch a little more and dont fully connect, grow auxiliary branches etc.
Smaller plants produce more flower mass for their plant mass, as compared to larger plants. At least imo. Ive seen many plants flowered from clone where there is almost no visible stalk or branches at all. The whole plant is all bud. Big plants dont do that.
You will also pull more yearly weight while using less nutes, energy, medium, time than anyone that uses a veg period. They may pull more weight per harvest, but when u break it down, you will be producing more grams per day if you both had the same setups.
Ive thought about rooting the under 12/12 from day cuttings, but i would figure it would take longer. The idea is to get some small nubs or roots developed, and then trigger flower immediately while still in the tray.
Ill get around to testing it eventually. Has anyone tried this or anything similar? What were your results?
