stanley fans?

Okay now, according to the company the cfm's are rated for the 3 speed settings:

low- 1280
medium- 1750
high- 2180

But then I've heard a few folks here say in the past that it actually only has the output of a dayton 465

And also, I believe the fan has two different intakes/sides, and only one actually pulls through the "INTAKE", and the other just cools off the motor. So would that actually make it half the cfm rating as the company claims?

Just been trying to find an answer to this problem with no avail.
If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

The actual throughput of any fan is going to be limited by other factors. Carbon scrubbers, for example, put a lot of drag on air flow; so does ducting that isn't smooth inside.

For the under $50 the Stanley blower costs, it puts out as much air as a Daytona that costs around $200. I have two of them ventilating/scrubbing different garden systems. One has been running for over a year; it's cooling a garden that is about 44 cubic feet. Pulling through a 3 inch layer of carbon, it keeps the garden cool and ventilated running on low. The second fan is hooked up to three container gardens of approximately 10.5 cubic feet each; it is also running on low pulling through 3 inches of carbon.

There is a lot of information on these fans and mods to these fans at www.gardenscure.com in the garden construction forum; look for posts by Chief Lackanookie.

Yeah, I need to know in order to make sure the DIY scrubber is done to the right proportions. I'll check out that other forum, see if they have any insightful info on this dilemma

Thanks Ambre for the info that unsmooth ducting reduces air flow in a duct! I will replace that shitty dryer hose with a smooth duct--that should help get more cooling air into that room!

the 1000+ cfm ratings are bs. it outputs about the same as a 265cfm dayton, which is spectacular for a $45 investment.

$45? Where did you find it for that? Everywhere I look is around $65 and out of stock. :frown:

btw one i have is pulling through a 24" long 8"diameter 1" bed and exhautsing through 4" duct 10' long on low fine. the other is suckin through 2 fitna be 3 400w hps and also sucking hot air from closet and exhausting through a 36" long 10" diameter 2" bed carbon filter in attic on medium setting.

its a beast i personally cant speak for any other fan comparatively though.
