stand alone ac or window unit

i have a 10x12 room which i have a 4x4 tent running 600watt and a 4x8 tent runnig 2k. i have the 600 venting into the room and the 2k running through a filter and exausting through the floor. it is winter and has been mild and when it get up to 70 my ac runs all the time. i know i need at least a 10000 btu ac. i have a 6500 btu ac running right now and i was looking at stand alone ac and noticed they were rated at less cooling power per square foot than a window ac. i dont wanna buy a window ac that will freeze during the winter but i want an ac that will cool the room on those days were it is 100 during summer. it got down to 30 last night and my ac turned on a few times so even though it is cold ouside i still need ac in that room. has anyone had any experience with stand alone ac if so what brands are good for keeping my space cool. i dont let my temps get above 75 at cannopy.

During the cold times where my window a/c will freeze up... I stop using it till spring and use filtered outside air to keep things cool. Humidity is low around here though...

Yes, stand alone a/c units have threads all over the boards on how they're less efficient and problematic. I would definitely do a lot of research on the subject. :D

I can say a window ac out preforms a portable ac. But I understand the window ac issues. I came to this situation and ended up buying a 15btu off craigslist for $100. At the highest temps in summer 100+ it keeps my flowering room 3600w at 78-80. Not the greatest but it works. I would buy the largest ac you can afford as its one of those one time buys.

Good luck

thank you for the quick responses. i definitely want to overkill i would rather it run less often and not have problems.
