We used 2x 1000 MH about 10 years ago with 3 shelves and 2 gallon pots to mass produce clones. It didnt use a large footprint and produced well.
I know someone that is doing a small one with 2 x 400w MH and 5 shelves with 1 gals like our flower rooms but I way out produce him with superior cuts just using horizontal shades in 2 gal pots on the floor with the same 2x 400w.
I don't know what kind of lighting you want to apply or production you need?

I've never really put it into micro mathematical terms. I don't like to use more than 10'x 6.5'x 7' for 4 bulbs. I've built enough rooms with less space under the 4kw and they've done very well also. For every 2 feet after 10' I'll add 1kw.
If you were to use the full 9' length I think I'd try placing your bulbs at equal distances and place 1kw, 600w, 1kw, 600w, 1kw. The two 600w would catch some overlapping light that way and your ends would get as much light as possible. Typically they are the weakest areas of the stadium because basically there is little over lapping light.

You have 4x5' for Moms?
A couple 400's or a single 1K will easily produce 150 top quality cuts with very little effort on your part....and just using a flat garden.

That still is not enough though. I trade with buddies usually to make up the difference or take 100 early and keep them prepping in the trays. Those tall ones end up on my bottom shelves in the flower rooms.
