Stabalising Temps....too cold!!!

All....

Can some one help....currently have a Budbox small (75cmx75cmx100cm), 2 x 125w CFL lights & a RVK100 4" fan clipped to a carbon filter and a 6" clip on fan. I have opened the vent in the side of the tent which is 4"x8" as a passive intake.

My tent is located in an attic....

I'm currently testing my temps and running the lights 12/12 from 7pm to 7am I have temps as follows:
High: 23.8c / 75.4f - 78% Humidity :joint:
Low: 15.3c / 60.2f - 41% Humidty :noway:

I'm running the 4" fan with carbon filter 24hrs as I need to for odour protection and the clip on fan comes on for 15 mins every 45 mins.

My issue is that the temps are varying more on the temps of the attic than anything else.... ambient temp of the attic is 0.5c/1.0f below the tent...and this area is very variable as its badly effected by the outside weather...especially wind!!!

I've opened more vents and closed more vents but this doesn't change the temps. I dont want to switch the lights to days as this will drop my temps more. Temps drop to 12/13c at night!!!

Is there anything on the market to control my temps upwards like a heater (thats safe!!)....one that I could put a set temp in of say 21c/73f... will then keep to that temp as a minimum in the tent then when my lights go on it will turn off or keep the temps the same? Or even one I could time to go up and down temps?

Or even better have you guys got any ideas about what I coudl try??? I've got seeds burning a hole in their packet waiting to be dropped in some soil but I want my enviroment stable before I germ!!

While your temps aren't ideal, I see no real problem. You might consider moving your day period forward a few hours. Attic temps continue to climb after the sun goes down as the entire house loses heat in that direction. I'm in the garage and do 9pm-9am

I'm worried about my temps dropping too low in Sept / Oct when flowering though... If it varies with the outside temps it will drop to like 4/5c in Oct!! Will this not be too cold for some girlies???

If possible I need to have lights on from around 6pm...otherwise I wont be able to see the babies growing and look after them.... 2 of us growing, and not at my place!!

All ideas welcome!! :)

4/5c in Oct!!

:yoinks: We need a "freezing my ass off" emoticon!

While my garage is generally closer to 10ºC in the winter, 4ºC isn't unheard of. I keep the same light schedule but, for the opposite reason. What day heat there is keeps the cabs "night" as warm as possible while the evenings cold is overcome by the "daylight" in the cab. When really cold, I close off an intake.

Sorry this doesn't address your actual question. Just saying, don't panic. Any buds better than a sharp stick to the eye.

What are your plants in? I'm doing a DWC with an aquarium heater to warm the roots to 20ºC. If you're in soil, 10ºC would be real trouble.

Planned to be in soil at the moment....:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

One of my friends at the hydro store said I might be able to use an aquarium heater but I thought you have to have them submerged in water to work???

heat pad, the kind you put on your back and plug in. i used those when i grew in the past to keep my roots warm. just stuck it in the bottom of the box and put the plants on top. waterproof so i didnt have to worry about it getting wet.

Don't use a heating pad unless you've got good insurance and plan on using it. Doing the above is asking for trouble. There are heat mats for horticulture. Also heat mats for agriculture (actually used to keep piglets warm) that would adapt.
Some may get away w/ the other pads. But it's a damn poor bet. Keep it safe.

This is correct. Do NOT use an aquarium heater out of the water!

lol how is that asking for trouble? the max temp is like 120 degrees. paper combusts at 451 degrees. and most things even higher temps than that.

anyway that what i used for many years and never burned down anything.

use it or not, your call.

in case were confused about what im talking about im talking about this.

Or for 5 bucks more, you get one 4 times as large, that is made for rough environments.

And as you said: "use it or not, your call."

edit: main point is to stay far away from most conventional heat pads -- they are definitely not made for this app. and some can be dangerous. A very good one could work -- i'd rather use it for my old back !!

. Heat mats can cause burns so please use with caution. Blankets, straw or hay should never be used with a heat mat.
this is from your link. how is that any safer than what i suggested? anything that uses electricity to get hot has the possibility of malfunctioning and bursting into flames. hell his lights can potentially do the same thing.

also the price for the heatpad i linked i for a 6 pack those things typically run like $20 at a store like a walmart or target. the thing you linked is like $140.

i myself wouldnt pay $140 for something that has the same fire risk as something thats $20-$30.

like i said before take it or leave it, this is what worked for me.
