do i get a prize for stumping everyone or was it a really BAD/DUMB question?

I'd say the former rather than the latter crawdad.
I have never seen a stipule shrivel up as shown in your photo.

perhaps you're pinching or twisting stems a little too hard and caused the stipules to have slightly deformed growth ? They don't look 'burnt' imho from my view of the pic, just kinda shriveled or shrunken. None the less I don't believe stipules perform any real function indoors as far as the new branching goes at the nodes.

Keep an eye on it and see if you're seeing any problems on the new growth at those nodes later on is about all anyone can suggest afaict.

hi-thanks for the help...10k-this is a big bud plant from sensi seeds...the only time i have touched the plant is to remove two sucker leaves from the very bottom..the next seem grew longer and are not shriveling..is that a preflower in the pics? i cant tell...i am trying to figure out if that is a female...

weedhound-howdy- my temps run from 70-85..

i will post a new pic of the next set above this one..i figured it was no big deal, but figured i would ask..

Ha, I was actually thinking in the opposite direction (plant got too cold) so thats obviously not it. Can't say I've ever really seen that either my self.

Any chance we could get a picture of the whole plant?

I dont know wtf you guys are seeing but its plain as day that is a female in the first four pictures.
If you look real close (blow it up) at that pair shaped preflower to the right of the stipule in the first picture it even looks like the pistils are starting to emerge from that primordial calyxe
