Sprout stopped growing! :(

Hello, so yeah this is my first time growing.

I've noticed the last 2 days that my sprout had stopped growing :S

And it also has like pretty thick leaves and are a very dark color.

And also the stem hasn't grown in height like at all since it sprouted.

I replanted it about 3 days ago and it did have about a 3-4" root.

I thought about overwatering at first, but today felt the soil and it was almost completely dry, and added some water. As you should.

the leaves have been curled up, almost like a ram's horns, but now one of the leaves have retracted to its more normal shape I suppose.

Maybe I have given it to much light?
I grow it under a 75wcfl 5.5k and 3320lm.
keep it at about 6" with aluminum-foil around the walls.
also I have a weak fan blowing at it at about 10-15"

Thanks, and I hope u've got help for me :)

seedlings are delicate little guys... do you only have one seed? It always helps to start a few at least so you can pick the best of the litter =P Sometime seedlings are slow starters and then you see them another day and they decided they were going to shoot up.

What kind of soil are you using? Also what is your temperature. I honestly think the foil is a bad idea. I looks like the sides of the boxes are white, which reflects a lot of light. If you have the temperature to high it can kill the seedlings also.

Something I have done as an alternative to piling the dirt up around the stem is putting something in the dirt and propping the sprout on it. you may also want to raise the light up just a little bit until is starts going.

Theres no guarantee that it will grow good, especially if it's bagseed? I will say this much the setup you have will grow a plant. That's more than what I grew my first plant with. I would get rid of the foil, raise the light a few inches (honestly if you could somehow tip it and used more of the side light you'd be using more of the bulb.) The soil looks a little heavy and over watered. I'd wait see what happens and maybe pop 5 more seeds. You don't necessarily have to keep each one, but you'll increase the odds of success.

haha it is a bagseed, lol

I just planted it for fun in an old flowers pot, it sprouted right in the soil, though little fella.

I use just simple organic swedish soil, but I don't have any rocks or something in it to help drainage. I did put some holes through the soil though, about 3-4 from top to bottom around the plant, almost at the edge of the pot.

Okay, so take away the foiliage, but the walls are simple brown cardboard. so there wont be any reflection at all. Maybe thats a good thing? I don't know :p

I do think the temperature is alright, should be between 18-22'C, but I think the moisture is pretty bad, its pretty dry in the air here atm.

Well the soil should be fine but I thinks its too wet. The problem with foil is hot spots, but you're temps should be okay. I have one going right now.

I wish I had pictures of my first plant lol. It was pretty bad, she finished and gave me one decnt sized top bud. If you're just in it for fun then it doesn't matter what you get, but with only one seed it might end up being a male also. You should start some more seeds =P

This is my second attempt if you want some ideas =)

the little fellow is now growing roots underneath
its normal that you dont see any changes for a couple of days
maybe even a week depending on the plant, but as i see
the leafs are getting very slightly bigger

just keep it cozy moist but not too wet enough light and
be patient, the first part is always the slowest :)

as i also see your setup should be sufficient for a little test grow,
just that it might not get any place once it starts stretching its head out,
in about 2-3 weeks it might have no place anymore, so you have to think
how you will proceed after the vegetative 18/6 phase

hey schleem,

on my first run my biggest problem was over watering, give it a few days to dry out then start to water again. once it is still living there's still lots of hope. the abuse i gave mine not intentional and they still grew to become monsters.

good luck hope it works out for you.

Thank you all for the advices!

I was having my suspicions but since I'm a noob i wasn't quite sure :p

Yeah, I have a free closet just need to get an electrical output in there. IF it started to grow.

Thanks again, and I think you'll see me again !

just another thing maybe, in the first phase the sprouts are quite sensitive
so maybe you just switch that fan of till you see another pair of leafs coming

good luck hope it turns out to be a sexy lady!!!

Yep, over-loved, over-watered. Classic rookie mistake. Let her dry out a couple days. Water only every 4th day, or every other, other day. Cannabis grows best if really soaked then really dried out. Water until water runs out the bottom of the pot. Seedlings only need maybe only 1/2 cup at first though, more as she grows. It is a hardy weed though too. She'll bounce back. And some stress seems good for them anyway. And you have to make mistakes to learn. Someday you'll look back and laugh at this.

Yes hello everybody, heres an update!

So yeah, I transplanted the sucker to new soil, hoping I could save his ass from overwatering, so now when I replanted him I made sur I had some stones and tree-chips in between the earth to ease the drainage.

But yeah here comes the bad part. Before I transplanted her, she had gotten this brownish color and looking all dried up. And hasn't got any better. She still has a little, very little green color right in the middle of the leaves :S

So when I had transplanted her, I waited for the earth to dry up, almost completely and then gave her a little bit of water, and stopped as soon as I saw water coming out the bottom.

So heres some pictures

I should add, I took a look at the roots, and it doesn't seem like it got root rot. But think of it again I'm a firsttimer so I would maybe not spot it at a first hand glance. But it looked pretty white all the way down to the bottom. I want to add also that the roots hadn't spread at all, it was just this maybe 4-5" long root. but id had not spread sprouts or arms or whatever.

bottom water / feed seedlings 350-500ppm roots go searching for water , keep dryish or you will get "damping off" gentle airflow helps

sorry but you are going a bit nuts with love
i know how that feels when you got such a little bugger
trying to grow the first time, but hey dont transplant that thing

you should have just let it dry out.

you can stunt the grow for quite some time additionally..
go easy and have a bit faith.

I agree, you just gotta force yourself to leave her alone and just grow dude. I hope she ain't dead. A little green still there is a good sign though.
