Sprayer Troubles

Guest

I am making a cloner using a submersable pump pvc pipe/fittings etc etc. I bought the 360 degree spayers thinking I could get away with using just 3 to cover the 10 gal. res I am using. Only problem is they dont spin. Anybody have any tips to make these spin or is it best to just go buy some EZ CLONE sprayer replacements? Ill have to redo my plumbing for those but if they work better than these Im into it. The pump is a Rio 600 pumping 760gal/hr( well thats what it says anyways).

are they the little green misters? if so, they're not supposed to spin. they mist in a 360 deg circle, as opposed to a 180 that will only spray on one side.

how are ya planning to waterproof the lid?

I didnt buy a res lid I used a piece of plexi glass I will get some pics up in a sec. And these arent the green or blue or red misters. They look like a mini sprinkler head and are supposed to spin around to cover 360 degrees.

Ok here are the pics of what I got so far. All the holes arent driled out yet in the top but in total there will be 45. I will use neoprene inserts to fill the holes and slide the cuttings in. And the air pump and bubble wands arent installed yet. I have a 20/60 and 2 12" bubble wands to keep the water aggitated. So its really a clone of an EZ-CLONE=) besides the heater.

The last pic is of the sprayers I went with. Im thinking Im going to change em out for the EZ CLONE replacements. You see what I mean by lookinglike a sprinkler?

Yeah I get some tomorrow. And I was going to add some more pop ups with caps for more misters too. Im going to try to get 10 but we shall see.=) Is there anything that makes buying a EZ-CONE machine better than this thing I have made? I mean its preatty much the samething right? Or is there a diff in the container shape etc?

Your pump is WAY to small to get those spinners spinning. Get a bigger pump. I think that using spinners gives better coverage than static sprayers, so I'd stick with what you have. Even if you change them, you will still need a bigger pump.

BTW Where did you buy that nice container?

Got it runnin pics soon to come. The problem was not enough water in there. I started with 2 gallons. Pump was covered and all but didnt work. I ended up adding 5 gallons and it works perfectly now.

Im running just water non PH adjusted. Anybody tried it like this? I had a bubble cloner before I made this one and had great results to start with but seemed to run into trouble recently. Made this to get better results hopefully.

Other things I have to add is Hygrozyme and Liquid Karma. If anybody thinks these will better my results please feel free to post.

Still using the rio pump?
Do you still need an air wand bubbling?
What are your temps? Warm temps help rooting.
I like a drop of superthrive if any additives, usually none. I definitely wouldn't waste Liquid Karma in it.
Good luck!

Wiqid Juan......It's not the GPH that matters. It's the pressure or "Head" a pump produces.

Example:

Those spinners probably output about 20 GPH each x 2 = 40 GPH

Now you would not ever consider buying a 40 GPH pump would you? That's because Mag-drive aquarium pumps are made for flow not pressure. To get the minimum pressure that you need requires a preponderance of Flow. Hence the need for a 750 GPH pump when you are only pumping 40 GPH.
