Spots and Crispy Leaves

Hi Everyone,

I'm growing two strains in a 4 x 4' closet - 4 Kali Mist and 8 Hawaiian Sativa x Juicy Fruit. Plants are about half way through flowering. Medium is soiless promix, nutrients are Botanicare Pure Blend Pro. About two weeks ago I added bat guano as a top dressing to medium.

About a week to 10 days ago, the larger fan leaves near the top of the Hawaiian Sativa plants started to show yellow/brown spots around the edges. On some plants this has progressed to turn leaf edges completely yellow and dried out. The Kali's are not showing the same symptoms. (The Kali's are also twice as tall the Hawaiian).

Here are pics - would appreciate if someone can offer me guidance - thanks in advance.

If using PBP you really need to add Cal-Mag Plus (or similar) and Im fairly sure thats where your problems are coming from. Ive seen it before and Cal-Mag cleared it up. Those damaged leaves will stay somewhat damaged but new growth should be normal.

Thanks IGT. I suspected this and have added calcium supp. Last year I had the same thing though and I thought it was nute lockout due to excessive temps but maybe not...

holy crap!!! That's coming out to 37ml per gallon ... if my math is correct that is WAY too much!! you're burning them up!!

thanks man, sorry i can't help you but i was curious to see how much you were using...do you use the "soil" formula?

37ml/gal of PBP is pushing it.

PBP also doesn't have much cal/mag in it either.

Are you using tap or filtered water?

How often do you feed? Every watering?

i don't get it...so the recommended dosage is too much????? are you using the "soil" formula..maybe there's a different apply rate...

MedUser - I'm using tap water and use nutes every watering. I use the soiless recommendation on the package.

Also, is there any chance my application of bat guano is a factor here?

perhaps because they are being fed every watering they are starting to show adverse effects.

I would give them a "flush" cycle inbetween feedings.

Peace

stoned skater... i mean the soil formula...there is 2 kinds of PBP...one for soil/coco, the other for hydro applications...just wondering which one your using...the soil formula has a better NPK ratio IMO...

I'm not familiar with the PBPB hydro line. I use the soil formula. The hydro line has more N and P in it I do know this and to be honest your leaves are super dark green so maybe a lil too much N?

Most people don't follow the directions on the label, and Yes Killakron, nutrient companies usually tell you to use too much. 15-20 ml gal is good. I never go over 17ml/gal in full bloom, but I do add a lil PK13/14.

Since your using tap water you should find out what's in it. Your water report is probably available online. This will tell you how hard your water is, PPMs, amount of calcium/magnesium in the water, etc. If it's too hard with too much cal/mag then you should switch to filtered water and start using cal-mag. If the tap water isn't too bad then your all good.

I think feeding that much every watering is too much.
Next time you water you should give them a good flush with plain Ph'ed water. Then start feeding again next watering at about half of what you have been giving them.

Thanks everyone. You're giving me a lot of good tips. I will flush next watering and adjust my feeding schedule and ingredients and see what happens. I'll let you know...

hey stoned skater don't mean to hijack at all, but meduser i use at that ratio and i have been having problems on some plants..brown spots, and yellowing starting from the bottom of the plant up...here is a leaf shot also with cal-mag at suggested rate..

once again sorry to hijack i just wanted to ask him a quick ?

Are you using Tap or filtered water?

So your feeding 30ml/gal PBPBloom and 5ml/gal of Cal-mag+ with every watering?

What kind of medium are you in?

Ferts build up in soil and peat mixes so you really don't want to feed at full strength every watering.

I'm not sure what you got going on there, but it may be the start of nute burn...
