Spoetnik #1 Smoke Report

Hello all, after many moons I have a much anticipated smoke report for my keeper pheno of the Spoetnik #1 from Paradise seeds. Member !Peace! grew out this test clone for me, and was grown with a very mild compost tea and little else to see the true genetics shine though, and oh they did!!

The Look: Dense dark green buds, thick bright orange hairs and large calyxes, thrichromes are large and numerous.

The Smell: Earthy, Grape taste, very sweet and pleasant, reminds me on an Old NL #5 strain I used to have once upon a time.

Taste: Tastes like a fine wine, sweet with a hint of sour grape on the end, very earth/pot taste.

Effect: Stone was quick on the exhale, straight to the head at first and creeps into the body over 10-15 minutes of time. This cut was taken at 53 days, if left longer I think it could be devastating, straight to bed stuff. Girlfriend had a bowl out of the roor this afternoon and took a long nap.

Overall I am very happy with this strain. I have a mother plant going into the tent this fall and I will do a full report on it. This is a sleeper strain, not a lot of people know that this strain is the shit, but trust me it is. Going to enjoy a big fat bed time bowl right now, peace out for now IC maggers.

Apollo 13 x black Russian I think is spuntic 1.0 from TGA. I don't think it's available anymore but it was in the big book of buds.

Huge, is right. I've been a keen follower of Subcool's work, the name Spoetnik and Sputnik are very similar but completely different strains. Subcool's Sputnik is a sativa dominant hybrid and Paradise's Spoetnik is very deep indica stone based.

Sputnik 1.0 as well as Double Purple Doja are both Subcool's (TGA) Apollo 13 x Black Russian=[Ak 47 x Blackberry]. I'm not sure if it was the same cross made from different mothers, or if Double Purple Doja is a select pheno found in Sputnik 1.0?

Sputnik 2.0 = [Sputnik 1.0 x Apollo 13] - It's backcrossed to Apollo 13

I was lucky enough to get a pack of Sputnik 2.0 F2's. A little bit ago.

Below is a lineage breakdown of Sputnik 2.0's by Subcool's, I don't know if it is exact but it is what I found on ICMAG.
*** FYI This is not for Paradise Seeds Spoetnik #1, but rather a completely unrelated strain by Subcool, called Sputnik. ***

Haze = Thai x Columbian x mexican x vietnamese?
Skunk #1 = Afghani X Thai X Colombian Gold
Shiva Skunk = Skunk #1 X Northern Lights #5
Jack Herer = Skunk #1 X Northern Lights #5 X Haze
Princess = Jack Herer X Unknown
(Genius’s sister)
Genius = Jack Herer X Unknown
(Princess’s sister)
Princess 50 = Princess X [Shiva Skunk X Jack Herer]
Princess 75 = Princess X Princess 50
Princess 88 aka Cinderella 88 = Princess X Princess 75
AK-47 = Colombian X Mexican X Thai X Afghani
SomAblaze Blackberry = Unknown lineage
Black Russian = Cherry pheno Ak47 X SomAblaze Blackberry
Apollo 13 = Genius X Princess 88
Sputnik 1.0 = Apollo 13 X Black Russian
Sputnik 2.0 = Sputnik 1.0 X Apollo 13

I am pretty sure what is above is true for subcool, but the strain I worked out from paradise which is spoetnik #1 is completely different... am I wrong? Is this a case of Jock Horror and Jack Herrer? Love this strain either way, would just really like to know what I really have.

talktosamson,

Paradise Seeds keeps the genetics of their projects secret. So the actual strains used were never publicly informed to the public. However, there is a similar name between paradises and Subcool's, whose is well documented. I looks like Paradise used Sensi Star in a lot of their crosses I've seen. But I really have no first hand experience with the Spoetnik - just read like 8+ reports on it. And everyone was reporting a strong Indica knock out stone. Which is totally different than the profile of Subcool's Sputnik - which is a racy/energetic sativa hybrid similar to apollo 11 or C99. They should be totally different other than name.

Cool, thank you Bio for the enlightenment. I did a squeeze test last night and I could definitely catch some marshmallow hints in the bud, but my pheno definitely is grape earth metalic just like the package says and has a little sweet mallow scent on the end and a nice sweetness in the taste.

Stone is a knockout, works perfect for my GF's migraines puts her right to sleep. Nothing sativa to her at all.

Thanks bi0hazrd for the info. I always assumed they just made S1s of Sputnik 1.0....the old Jock Horror/Jack Herer game.

Spoetnik #1 is better than Sensi Star IMO, certainly from my own grows of the 2 Paradise strains (both femmed), and my own personal tastes. Just a 5-pack of each though. 5 plants isn't enough to fully judge a strain.

Never once been let down by paradise seeds and i have tried 5 of there strains if its health potent indica your after they got the goods

I am always in the market for a potent indica and they have never let me down, one of my favorite breeders out there right now. I am after a pack of sensi star next since that's their specialty and all.

I've grown out Spoetnik #1 several times and can attest to its potency when grown correctly. Fist time I grew her I had my grow dialed in and she was spectacular. Huge rock hard nuggs and a very powerful stone. Let her go 65-70 days on the first run. Look out for bud rot though as this is a definite issue.

Second run was a very different story though. My grow suffered high temps and some over feeding. She hermied and the yield suffered dramatically. Cut her at about 55 days and the smoke was okay but nothing close to my first run.

A friend planted one of the hermied seeds and kept it under his window for the past few months. Grabbed some cuttings and revegged the one that survived. Gonna grow her back out and see how she does again.

For the money spent Spoetnik #1 is a gem in my opinion. First thread on her I've seen. Very under rated.

Samson-

Glad to hear how that Sputnik played out. Some OMMP mates just picked up some Sputnik (I forget the #) rooted clones from Eugene. I can't wait to see what turns out. This winter at some point I'm sure.

Peace

FYI this is "Spoetnik" by paradise seeds, which is purely indica. "Sputnik", which is the one that comes in Sputnik 1.0 and 2.0 (Is much more Sativa dominant) and is made by Subcool of TGA Genetics. That is Apollo 13 x Black Russian [AK47 x Blackberry] = 1.0 and that backcrossed again to Apollo 13 is Sputnik 2.0. I have some Sputnik 2.0 F2's I'm going to look to pop in the near future.

Both Spoetnik and Sputnik are seller strains, even though they are completely different.

I have a single giant spoetnik #1 outside in my medical garden. Its the biggest and fastest of the bunch. Cant wait to see if it will yield and if it can withstand this wetness we get up here.
