Spider Mite proof design with outdoor Pets

Hey all, I have two outdoor cats and want to grow again.

The cats are I'm sure laden with spider mites and will be adjacent to my closet (grow room.) I have had spider mites in the past and fear their power.

I'm trying to think of designs that could solve the problem.

The only thing that came to mind was reversing the air flow when the closet door is opened and so.. blowing the borg away from the grow room. To be effective, I'm imagining a shit ton of air would have to be moving. Maybe use something to partially cover door passage so not as much air would be needed?

Thoughts on this system or another one?

just gotta keep ventilation completely separate from the living area. intake from outside, exhaust to outside. no air exchange within the house.

floramite SC or similar in veg will go a long ways towards keeping mites away in flower.

if i didnt care about odor and had a huge AC, i might consider a positive pressure environment like they use in sterile rooms.

Mites dont fly so not too sure about the air ibtake/exhaust...?

More likely...if the cats get bugs on em, they'l get on you and thats how they will get to the plants. Fresh clothes, and be cautious. Ypu can try to prevent anything from crawling in there with a barrier of tanglefoot all the way around the perimeter...like lay down a strip of painters tape and smear the tf over that vs on the trim/paint. Same idea if you sprinkle some de around on the floor. Hang a lot of yellow sticky traps as a preventative for gnats too.

Personally I'm exposed to all kinds of bugs thru work.

I always try to at least change my clothes before I work my grow.... Cat's aren't allowed "IN" the grow, but still wander around outside the door.

Best advice is proper setup of circulation, seal the room as much as you can, filter intake and exhaust, clean yourself before going in and maintaining your plants (take a shower and change clothes) And most importantly,... spray your plants with Neem!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just getting back into growing, and thru connections got a couple clones,... one came home with mites.

They are all dead now! How? NEEM!!!!

Oh,... and while they won't like it,... Cursader has a good idea! Give your cats a bath with a mild NEEM solution! Specially if they're indoor/outdoor cats (mine are just indoor)

After years of growing I finally was infested with spider mites! I had no clue what was going on with my plants and by the time I realized what it was i had them bad! I jumped on the net and read horror story after horror story and was freaking out bad! I talked to my Hydro shop MILF and she told me what to do! I purchased 1 gallon of Mighty Wash, 2 Hot Shop no pest Strips and and good shop vac! I vacummed all the flowering plants! Sprayed down every plant and layed out the strips! I vacced and re sprayed 2 weeks later and they were gone! Everything I read said You will probably never get rid of them but I did!! How does this relate to you, well buy some Mighty wash just in case and get no pest strips they repel most every bug! You could also collect some lady bugs and put in your grow area! Just a few thoughts!!

i dont think the cats are exactly laden with them lol..

the best way is to not let your cats near your grow room and to make sure you put on clean clothes when you check your plants..

Azasol, once in veg, once in 1st week of 12/12. Spray leaves. Organic. Azasol is the water soluble, much more systemic form of Azadiractin. Unlike Azamax and Azatrol, it is oil free. No mess, no phytotoxicity, much longer shelf life, about the same price. I doubt that you will have any mites. Works for me. Good luck. -granger
