Well, it seems that there is something worse than paranoia--Spider mites--surely there is a wore name for them. I've read quite a bit on these guys and they seem to be super resistant to eradication. I'm in between crops right now, and I really want to get control of the situation. I need additional suggestions on my current regimen.
1. Harvested plants (carried them out of room in a sterilite-trimmed them in the bathtub after rinsing with the shower, hung them on a rope w/ vaseline at the ends, above a white plastic lid sprayed with that Home Defense Max (sprayed walls and around door of this closet). Bagged and disposed of all the yummy trimmings.
Hung the trees in a new and separate space albeit on the same floor-future plans for another tray. I see them crawling on the ends of the stalks and some are stuck in the vaseline trying to crawl up the rope to escape--DIE!!!
2. Sterilized the trays w/ 10% bleach solution for over an hour. Sprayed walls, baseboards and corners with Home Defense Max-in a half assed manner. Took existing pots, hydroton, and double bagged in the trash and disposed of quickly. All other hydroton in the house was put through a 1 hour 10% bleach soak, rinsed and currently drying.--DIE!!!
3. I've got a small tray of future mothers/next crop/future clones on the other side of the curtain of the recently harvested plants. They were pest free until last week and i saw one mite on one leaf. I've sprayed periodically with safer's fungicide neem oil. I sprayed again last night- placed a hot shot chlorovos strip at the base of the plants and sealed the whole tray with tape and plastic bags for 10 hours. On the same note of destruction, I set off a deep reach fogger bomb after turning off all air movement. Next morning, air'd out.--DIE!!!
4. I'm ready to clone, move mothers to a clean space, and start flowering with this batch, but I'm only 2 days after the main stage has been harvested--I'm thinking thre are bugs ready to hatch if I start using it too soon. Temps are 72-78F 50-68% humidity lately. I'm intent on running a pyrethrin fumigator in a couple of days and then another cypermethrin fogger a few days after that. Of course I'll cover the vegging plants during those hours. DIE!!!
5. One last thing-I'm hoping to take them out of the tray and blast them in the shower, but I'm wary as the roots look entangled in the tray--in another week or two they will be root-locked together. DIE!!!
Is this a good plan?
Any suggestions for "bug-free" clones?
When can I use my main stage. I've heard 5-20days depending on environment?
Are the mites from my last harvest still a threat in a nearby, treated closet while the plants are still drying? if so,How should I kill them?
Thanks for any input-big smokes to you!
Spider mites burn in hell or my bowl if that's quicker!!!
