Has anyone here tried putting a plant next to a spherical scrog with a lamp in the middle? It would take some vegging and training to take up the whole sphere but all light would be used and I bet the gpw could be good. I'm almost dead set on doing it since it would be very cheap to assemble.. with the only cost to me being chicken wire and maybe some wood or plastic to support the sphere.

Put your guys Input especially if you tried this before I don't wanna waste 3 months if it does'nt fare well. 400w hps inside a 2-3' diameter sphere. A nice medium height hybrid...

seems like a cool idea, only problems i can see are not being able to check the buds with ease, and circulating air inside the sphere

well the sphere will be in 2 halfs and can be cracked open like an egg.. and for circulation well... If you can imagine a sphere made of chicken wire with a verticle cooltube in the center. a 4" vortex sitting on a filter with a cooltube on top and a sphere around the tube.. 4 plants in a 20+ gallon rubbermaid with one 6" netpot are vegged until they can be SPHERED!

Heres the catch folks... When the sphere is laid out flat, you see that it has more area than a flat scrog, and it can fit in a smaller space! I am going to try this !!!

Who else out there is feeling the idea? I mean if not using chicken wire, maybe I could just use a metal fence... I'd leave a hole so I could maintancne the interior but most of it can be scrogged from outside the sphere.. its foolproof way to soak the most energy out ur light!

It actually sounds like a good idea.

I am not understanding how you are going to have the filter, fan, light combo. But that doesnt matter. For circulation you could just put a box fan on top blowing down.

I suspect you'd have as much area or more with a tubular ScROG and easier access into the grow as well. Still, sounds like a fun experiment.

I am doing the same thing with a 1000w HID, organic coco drip mini trees just seems to make more sense to me. easier to cool greater direct light grow area.
