Im just a small grower for about 5 plus years and I have become as of the last few months concerned about having back up exhaust fan and filter on hand for spares. More of the fan issue since filters can be sourced in a day or two. Im a small tent grower and grow in the heart of a burb kind of neighborhood. If I lost my fan Id be screwed in just a few hours most likely even keeping windows closed, and as most of us still are in stealth grow mode I know that shit would not be well received by many of the burb dwellers in my non legal state. I currently have my seemingly reliable S&P silent fan still ticking over quietly and it may run for another god knows how many years.
Myself just ordered a back up Vortex S series 6 to put in my spare parts. I work in manufacturing maintenance and am used to be able to grab spares of even very expensive parts at a moments notice. Its mental security to know that for those of us who grow in small areas a failure of a critical part such as a exhaust fan wont expose me. I have even gone to the point I use inlet filter AND an exhaust filter with plenty of CFM ratings to cover 2 filters. A fan like this in my non legal area isnt something I can just run out and grab within a few hours short of an overnight Amazon type order. Which could be too late till the PoPo show.
Plus as well as just starting to just phase to one larger Phresh filter on the exhaust side in the attic paying attention monitor the humidity and temps to help with room in my grow area. A backup old one will be held for an emergency back up if needed. I have read on the Phresh site or somewhere that carbon filters need to remain in OEM sealed packaging to avoid expiring too soon possibly. Sounds reasonable.
Not to mention I have the generator to run in case of a short term power outage. Enough watts/amps to run the gas furnace if needed, grow stuff most of all, fridge and a few lights and small TV. And gas cans for at least 24 hours filled at all times.
Am I the only one who considers the consequences of power or ventilation issues in the burbs or neighborhoods that could be a shitstorm if there is a critical failure?? I sure as fuck dont want to have to cut down plants and moms figure out how to hide the smell in a emergency or ventilation failure.
Good god Im glad a hard Sativa doesnt make me paranoid !!
