spacing between pots/support system

looking to properly space 300gallon pots and from all the info i can find, 10-15' between pot centers seems to be agreed upon. with these pots that seems to be between 5' and 9' between each pot. 5' looks a little tight. just don't want a patch of monsters falling all over each other.

also, far as support, is there any benefit to staking individual branches rather than just installing cages in each pot to begin with? i dont really like working around the cages but they do support the plant really well.

thanks for any help!:tiphat:

If you have the room to play with then in my opinion space them 9' edge to edge/~14' from center, if you have the room in prime location that you don't have to compromise direct light by spacing them a comfortable amount, then why not, it just makes things so much easier having more room.

My thoughts on the plant support question is if your planning on growing in 300 gal smarties with good sun even semi decent sun, and good care your looking at good size girls. So staking individual branches is pretty much out of the question, even guys that do this just do it early on in the season and it is a pain. I would do a small inside cage at transplant, since it's put in early around the transplant it won' get in the way of watering, it will also provide wonderful support early on and later on in the year along with other support.

Towards the end year I would do t posts in a square around the outside of the pot and wrap and cap around the t posts or sum sort of posts with plastic trellis netting. Then the last month during heavy flower wrap more netting using posts as anchor points.

But There is more than one way to skin a cat, this is just mine. Sorry for being so long winded lol, I hope this helps!

huge help! thank you. i can definitely re-use my cages and string up some trellis no problem. right now the plot is only 25' x 60' and i'm looking to fit 16 so it sounds like i might have to clear out some brush and expand. luckily the plot only has 1 shaded spot for a few hours in the morning from a tree i wouldn't ever cut down but aside from that it's full sun all day
