space question

Hey guys Im currently on the 9th day of flower. Vertical space im in about a 10ft closet. I started flowering 2 strawberry coughs and 2 og kush after about 6 weeks or so of veg, im not entirely sure. The og kush are fucking enourmous at about 3 and a half feet tall. The coughs are a bit shorter but they are atleast twice as thick. The coughs are about 3 ft in diamater and are hitting the wall. Im fine for vertical space, but what will the lack of horizontal space do to my grow? Also im trying to figure out how big my ladies will be before im done, Im worried i might overgrow my closet. Im using a 400w hps for flower, and used mh for veg. Using ocean forest and chunky perlite. Fox farm nutes, blackstrap mollasses and reverse osmosis water. Any predictions on overall size, and overall yield would be increadibly helpful. They are looking increadibly healthy new growth is a bright green and olderer is a nice dark forest green. I know its all speculation but at this point knowing answers to these questions will seriously help me. I appreciate it.

Sadly, chances are good (based on you being 9 days into flower) that these will at least attempt to double in size.

Why not just Snake-LST em? It's how I deal with massively tall sativa's (had one actually become root bound in a 5gal bucket!).... I just start the usual LST as always but then begin to work with the main cola, each day pulling it slightly more and more into a circular shape. By the time I'm done it resembles a corkscrew shape, just winding around and around and around all the way up. This can take a 6ft sativa and pack it into close to 4ft without much squishing.

Way better than topping IMHO.

Check out my grow. I just started chopping yesterday. You need to make SURE you give your plants support early, like now. Mine got to be about 4 feet tall. Problem is my 400 like yours wont penetrate that tall capony well.

I had broken and bent branches cause buds got tooo heavy, etc. LST them and support them best you can

How would you suggest I support them? On the smaller OG I used 3 dowl's and tied string around the outside to sort of form like a tomato cage. The others have many branches and arent tipping or anything. I bought some eyelits and nice string should i just be tying the branches to the walls or are stakes going to work better?

There are many more ppl with more experience with weed than me. Personally I would do them like tomatoes. I'd try to avoid getting plants tangled together. It's a pain later if you have to do anything. The lower nodes of mine got so heavy later on that they just floppedover , some breaking. A cage would help a lot to prevent that. keeping the lower nodes supported will also get them more light and grow better. You have the vertical rtoom. Just keep your plants from spreading out and getting tangled up. The shape you want is like nested "V"s. Make sense?

Good luck

Back to his trimming wondering what people do when they have dozens of plants at harvest? The thought of having to trim dozens of plants makes me crazy!!! LOL

Juiceman congrats on your choice of medium and R/O water, around 30 days those plants will start falling into each other from the weight of the buds more than likely,I only had two choices with a room full of floppy girls.I could put them together as best I could like a jigsaw puzzle with plants leaning on/supporting each other. The other option was to string speaker wire around 12 inches apart the length and width of the room and support them that way tying them to the wire.I kinda did a combination of both, you are going to have to wing it lol. They will stretch horizontally.Have fun.Hey Obli!

Hey Guy!!

I don't know if my idea will work or not. A lot depends on how he wants to shape them. He could cut the lower nodes off and focus on the upper ones that get better light?

My harvest isn't gonna be great in terms of weight becuase as good as the plants looked in pics, the lower buds on the AI weren't real dense. The Ice I just finished is much better. Buds are bigger and denser, and less leaf. That's subjective sorta. I did some green weights on some of the plants. I have more pics of green harvest of Ice 2 coming tonight

Good to see ya and chk you later!

I'm finishing up some seriously tall Arjan's now... here's what I did and it's been pretty good to me so far:

Forget staking. I see some do it and others dont. Personally I want the entire branch to get as much light, not just the top - and since I'm not dropping a light down in the middle of them all the lower branches dont get squat. The other main reason for not staking is when growing long flowering sativas I like to run other indica's beside em so I'll have some smoke for the months to come....and with perpetual it's really hard to have stakes all over the place since the light must be adjusted.

I .... LET THEM FALL! hahah...I know, sounds retarded. The reason I did this was to allow the majority of light to hit the bigger buds. So they grew up nice n tall, started to fatten up and then began to do their sag/fall thing.

When the saggin started I took some twine, looped it around the plant near the base and tied all the branches together. So the base/lower part became a support and the tops sagged out in all directions like a fountain. Then I took each limb that was falling and set it on the canopy of lower growth. The bigger limbs I put on there first and the smaller ones I put on top of the bigger limbs. This basically makes a bud sandwich... The good thing is once they started to sag they were still growing (100-110 day strain) so now they were growing horizontally instead of vertically... just what I wanted.

The smaller buds got the most light, allowing them to fatten up...but since they were smaller more light got through them to the buds that were already fat. Makes for a yummy sandwich when it's all said and done...and limits the amount of space they take up

Good luck with whatever option ya choose!

Thanks everyone for your help.
Klutter although the idea doesnt sound like a terrible one Im currently de4aling with a horizontal space issue and thats why I initally posted this topic. Ive got more than enough room for my plants to grow 9th if they wanted to, (they wont but im just saying). Im probably going to stick with the eyelit thing. Running string supports from the wall to the branches that need help.

Im currently on my 11th day of flowering how far along should my plants have progressed as far as bud production. Im just really excited to see my ladies start to bud up and am a little confused where they should be at one point of flowering. Any help would be awesome.

Thanks alot guys, keep em growing.

Click on my grow thread right below here in the signature line( I began choppin...etc). I tried to take pics and document it pretty well from the day I went 12/12. Strains differ, degree of care, all sorts of variables can affect what your plants might look like versus someone elses at the same stage...but maybe you'll get some idea.

Cheers and good luck. My advice? Go easy on nutes and water properly
