do you have white walls?

If you understand what inverse squared is, you will realize that its not going to make much difference. White, mylar, or reflectix, it's all weak reflected light. I personally like panda plastic simply because it holds up the best to repeated washings.

Do tell?

to be very honest, i think you made a classic new grower mistake. spend the time to build your system, test it for a few days, then add your plants. now your gunna be building around growing plants and making changes which in turn are gunna change your temps RH% etc. your setting yourself up for a bad time. what i would suggest, if you have other seeds/clones/etc, to scrap your plants and spend the time/money on a 'complete' setup. it doesnt need to be expensive, but you do want to spend a lil time and build it right the 1st time. you wont see it at 1st, but you'll save yourself a lot of time/energy/money. once built run everything without plants and make sure all your timers, fans, scrubber, etc, are working right. then reap the rewards of a successful grow because you planed for success

When I started I used space blankets. For several years actually, even when I could afford better. Wire coat hangers and a pair of pliers. Custom tents, any size, any place.

And if putting reflective walls around the lights doesn't help, then how do they keep selling all those $500+ tents? wouldn't all the suckers have one by now? would not an dark rough surface be a whole lot cheaper to make?

My last use was 3 x 400w HID, 15 square feet (5' circle), $9 tent made out of mylar emergency blankets from Fred Meyer (coleman brand). I'm still growing because it worked, it worked very well.

I recently passed 5 kw and don't use space blankets anymore, but there are still 2 packets hanging on the pegboard from before.

I think planning ahead is great, but somehow that is not how my life goes.
