Sour Bubble Trouble

P

Peat

BOG’s Sour Bubble bx3

*****************************************************
In LC Mix #2.
Fertilized with liquid fish ferts

******************************************************
These are the 2nd round of clones away from the seed plant donor. (= my 3rd run of this particular individual)

The original seed plant had issues, but limped along.

The first set of clones had a little more issues, but I caught them early and potted up and watered a bit more frequently. They are finishing out relatively nice, but still with a bit of burning.

*****************************************************
So far, I’ve been unable to move the 2nd round of clones under the 430W without severely burning them.

I can usually go from my flos to the 430W within a week with after transplanting rooted clones from Jiffy Pellets to 1 qt sq pots.
The clones are nearly 6 weeks into their qt pots!

(BTW, I don’t keep moms. I take clones of clones of clones ...)

*********************************************************
10/2
Potted up clones from Jiffy Pellets to 1 quart pots (5ml/gal 5-1-1 + 5ml/gal 0-0-1)

10/12
A, B, C moved to veg (2' - 3' from 430W HPS)

10/17
A, B, C watered with (5ml/gal 5-1-1 + 5ml/gal 0-0-1)
(They were beginning to show a little burn.)
(I thought that they just had trouble getting used to the big light.)

Moved D & E from flos to the dark corners of my veg closet (3' - 4' from 430W HPS) to see if they can make the transition a bit healthier.

10/19
D, E, F, G, & J watered with (5ml/gal 5-1-1 + 5ml/gal 0-0-1)
Moved D & E back to flos after they started looking bad. I don’t want them burning too.
G & J have remained under flos and look great!

10/23
A, B, C looking really bad.
D & E looking better.

11/5
A, B, C back under flos before they burn up completely.
Put D & E in doorway of veg closet. But at a greater distance from the 430W this time.

11/9
I figure I’ve got to try a few different things.

Transplant E & J to 1 gal pots
(10ml/gal 5-1-1 + 5ml/gal 0-0-1).
(The roots looked good to me...)

Put E under 430W
Put J back under flos

Water A, B, C, D, & G
Put A, B, C, & G back under flos
Put D under 430W

***********************************
I determine when to feed/water by weight.
Usually every 5 days. Except after transplanting, then it’s usually 11 days.
One of the first signs that something was wrong was that they started taking longer to dry out.

----------------------------------------------
I use pH papers.
Tap water, Nutrient mix, & Drainage pH = 6.5

-----------------------------------------------------------
Temps at canopy are 78F - 83F

Temps at root zone are maybe a degree or 2 cooler.

------------------------------------------------------------
Current air flow (CFM)?
6" Vortex exhausts the 1kW in the Flower Cab...that intakes from the room that contains my veg closet.

Is there air blowing directly onto plant? Yes. 10" osc. Circ fan...

Using CO2? No

Relative humidity? 55% (+/-)

-----------------------------------------------
FWIW, I have 3 wk old seedlings (JLP's SDOG f2s) under the 430W that are doing perfectly fine...

fert burn

too hot, some plants can take it better than others, but the top 3 are all fert burnt to hell. Others aren't as bad.

you nuting too much, or your mix is too hot, or both for those plants
first thing you need to do, is flush flush flush

Peat, I suggest using plain water and flushing those pots real good. Like overwater them with nice fresh water without nutes. Then let them set for a week I bet they freshen up. Those are too unestablished to be getting the doses of ferts they been getting. Easy to fix bro. Flush like mad. MJ don't always need food bro. Good luck

In my experience with the SBB BX3 it's SUPER oversensitive to high N levels and will not just get tipburn... the fucking plant will practically catch fire. You're supposed to harvest it before burning it ;)
It's literally the most N sensitive plant I have EVER grown, EVER. That fish glop is pretty hefty there- lay off it. And FLUSH!

I'm beginning to notice a consensus.

What is the saying about the most obvious answer usually being the right one? :bashhead:

I sho did go round my elbow to scratch my ass! :chin:

Ok. They're going to be getting water only.

I assume that when they start coming back, I'll need to give them a very light dose of "fish glop".

All this time, I've been trying to be careful not to glib the glop. :frown:
Now it's got me all intimidated...

I'll keep y'all updated.

Thanks for the help! :ying:

UPDATE
I've got one ready for some irrig.
I'm just gonna flush, as recc, unless I hear otherwise real soon...

But first, here's some pics showing their "progress" following the treatment they got on Nov. 9

A, B, C look to be making a comeback. (crosses fingers)
They recieved plain water and were put under the flos on Nov 9.

***********************************************

D looks to be in decline.
It recieved plain water and was put 3' away from the 430W on Nov 9.
It is ready to be flushed.

But, it has black "fungus" spots.

This is different than the "burning".

So, ...I dunno...

************************************************

E was transplanted to 1 gal pot with 10 ml/gal 5-1-1 + 5 ml/gal 0-0-1
and put 3' away from the 430W.

If overfert is the prob, this one should be burning up! :hotbounce
(And may yet, as it dries a bit more...)

***********************************************

G was given plain water and put under flos.

*************************************************

J was transplanted to 1 gal pot with 10 ml/gal 5-1-1 + 5 ml/gal 0-0-1
and put under flos.

It had those "fungus" spots before the transplant / fertilization. I'm looking to see if they're getting larger, or not...

************************************************
It seems to me that I have symptoms of overfert AND underfert.
Just, overall, malnutrition!

************************************************
And now, my SDOGs are getting pale on me...something new... :bashhead:
(Still, my pH is 6.5.)

************************************************
I'm completely over my irrational paranoia of hydro stores.
If it's as simple as that, I'm ready to go on a road trip this morning!

But, I thought I'd check in first.
I've got a couple of hours before the shop closes... :drum:

I suppose they have more expensive stuff I can kill my plants with. :asskick:

If you are looking for more stable ferts, I suggest either General Hydroponic 3 part nutes or use the Pure Blend Pro nutes, one for veg and a different one for flower. Hope that helps and remember you only need a little on these, more is not better :)
Good Luck and good growing

Hi Blaner,

(In Chris Griffen voice) Get out of my head, man!!!

LOL, j/k.

Thanks for helping out, man!

I'm leaning toward PBP veg and bloom/soil. (And Liquid Karma too.)

I use tap water and have lime in my soil. Would I benefit from Cal/Mag?

But, also considering GH Flora... :bashhead:

So, you figure nutrient quality may be the root of my problems?

And/Or, am I just misusing what I have?

FWIW, I've been told I'm not going to the store today....:whip:

Glad to be of any help :)
I have always done well with the Pure Blend Pro nutes, and I do use Liquid Kharma also.
A little Cal/Mag does not hurt either :)
If you are growing in soil I prefer the Pure Blend, when I run hydro I prefer the GH 3 part, seems to stay more PH stable :)
