Sour 60 + 5 fem Road runners, seed run

I got my Sour 60's a couple of days ago with 5 fem Road Runner freebies. Soaking them overnight and putting them in a peat moss mix tomorrow; their final pots will have a mostly coco mix. Since this is a seed run I'll be running a variety of CFL's and floro's to keep things as simple as possible, when I do a bud-run I'll be using my switchable 1000w HPS/MH w/ cooltube.

Since the RR's are femmed i'm not gonna worry about making CS to make more femmed RR's, instead I'm just gonna do an open seed run with all 15 for more genetic diversity in my seed stock. I'm not to concerned about keeping a pure form of Road Runner, in fact I think it will benefit from the cross.

I'll update when there's more to tell, pics probaly won't come for a little while since there won't be much to show this first time around but if anyone wants them ill post some.

I'm really looking forward to this, i haven't grown in a couple of years and I haven't had a chance to checkout Sour 60 yet (grewout bluestreak a while back) so this is exciting.

Also, I was a little surprised at how pale the Sour 60 seeds are, has anyone else noticed this? From what I've seen it has great germ rates but I don't remember seeing any pics of the seeds. I might post a pic before I germ them.

thanks, that looks about right, I just remembered bluestreak seeds being darker. What kind of germ rates did you get? not concerned, only curious.

they do look a little on the pale side, mature though i'm sure.

I've had paler beans pop so I would not worry mate.

Hey GreenBastard... You are doing the exact same thing as me. Doin a sour60 seedrun with some roadrunners as well under a 250 hps. You can always keep 2 extra roadrunner seeds to do a psuedo backcross to the roadrunner genetics. Roadrunner x (Roadrunner x Sour60)... Then select for roadrunner phenos or better in subsequent generations, well at least that is my plan. Germ rates were normal, but I had to manually remove more seed husks than ever... Tough little buggers

nice ratio, most have already sunk, by time I get back they should be ready to put in paper towels. Once they go in soil they will get 24/0 from a 55w PL-L so they get light as soon as they pop, after a while I'll supplement with different specs and types of floros, I'm probaly gonna go 24/0 the whole run since I'm not concerned about bud right now, I just want to get a shit ton of seeds as simply and quickly as possible.

By may/june I'll have a real grow setup with a detailed journal and more advanced techniques and equipment.

I'd thought about that but I don't care much for keeping the RR's at this point, If I like them I may buy a couple packs when I get more Sour 60's and some Bluestreak after this run.

I counted my sour 60's and learned that I got 13 in a 10 pack, so that was cool, I know that they used to be 12 per pack but they switched to 10 so I got lucky. I put the road runners in paper towels around 12pm as they had cracked in ~12 hours. Im gonna soak the sour 60's for about 12 more, in any case all 18 should pop by monday.

The road runners grew a nice tail so I put them in dirt, their currently under a 55w PL-l. I had 10 sour 60's soaking in a warm place that somehow got very hot, when I checked on them the water was hot to the touch and they had darkened considerably, im hoping for the best. Even if they don't germ I still have three left plus 5 RR's, hopefully at least a few will be fine, they hadn't cracked yet but it had been hot for a few hours so there's a good chance their not gonna germ.

Of the 18 seeds 2 Sour 60's pulled through, hopefully I have at least one female, regardless I'll be getting more seeds soon. this was kind of a freak accident, the area the seeds were germing in had to of gotten ~100F for a few hours so it just heat killed everything. the seeds that were soaking were literally cooked.

I need to find my camera's USB cable but I'll upload them as soon as I find it. There isn't much to see yet, one had stretched a bit because I didn't think they would germ so there was no light for almost a day. The other is very short because I had to move some of the soil out of the way for the cotyledons to be above the soil, it had fully germed its just that the seed was a little deeper than it should have been. So right now they are less than a week old and the tallest is about 1 1/2", they each have their second leafs forming. I'll have some pics by the end of the week, after that should pick up a bit.

Right now they are both under a 55w PL-l that I found when I moved in (lucky right?).

its fine, im getting more at the end of the month. I havn't found my camera cable but I have a 640x480 webcam that ill use later. It's pretty shitty but theres not much to see yet, they have started picking up though.

the s60 beans i got were very big dark and molted. the bs i got were like half the size of the s60 very dark no molting at all. also had to remove quite a few of the husks on the s60
