Out of all of the myriad articles I've read over the years (link below), this one is the most disturbing/concerning. Two guys busted for 69 plants WITH doctor recommendations (cards). The Sonoma County Sheriff's Assoc. has approved 30 plants per patient, so these guys were a measley 9 plants over the limit. What's even more concerning is that Sonoma City cops were able to obtain a search warrant to review the PG&E records for their residence. The two were also busted for "for profit" sale of marijuana because they were selling to a dispensary in Vallejo. My guess is that a nosy neighbor started the chain of events leading to these guys' downfall, but this raises the following questions (you may have others):

1) Why were these guys targeted when there are obviously tons of grows of this size in the area, and many larger ones that would seem to be more of a priority.
2) How were the police able to determine that they were selling their excess to a dispensary "for profit". Were the dispensary's records searched?
3) Why would the police not have removed the excess 9 plants and left them with their allowable 60? (I realize the the "for profit" thing is the likely reason but, again, why were these two targeted and arrested??)
4) 69 plants shouldn't be enough to generate a huge spike in power bills. I'm sure it was more than the average home. But let's assume this was a 6,000 - 8,000 watt grow. There must be several thousand (if not more) of this size county wide. Again, why would this grow be a standout?
5) Is this a matter of local (Sonoma City, not county) cops being over zealous? Is this happening elsewhere in the county?
6) Are dispensaries sharing records and/or are police serving warrants at the dispensaries to determine who the vendors are and how much they are contributing?
Very disturbing article.
