Somebody snitches...what happens next?

In regards to US laws, if somebody tells LEO that you're growing, what is the most likely step they'll take?

Will they knock on the door and try to get probable cause, get a K9 outside the spot, get a warrent right away, fly a helicopter over you, surveillence?

I live in an area with lots of crack and heroin problems. Does this help me stay under the radar?

I'd say if a credible person went to the police with a tip like that, they'd probably investigate it at a minimum. Can't imagine them just shrugging it off unless it's extremely small time with no selling. Perhaps they'd get the person to sign an affidavit. I'd expect a possible knock-and-talk, trash pulls and surveillance. If none of that worked, I doubt they'd have enough to base a warrant off of. Your area could help or hurt you. Crack/heroin produces lots of fiends who'd love to rip you if they found out about you so keep a lid on your grow. Make sure your security is good and tell no one. Hopefully the cops would be too busy with the harder dealers to even look your way. There's always the possibility though. Stay safe.

i've overkilled secuirity. i put security cameras up to keep the neighborhood scavengers, fiends, and criminals away from my property. i'm wondering if the cameras presence are drawing more attention than keeping me safe. cameras won't stop a cop from kicking the door in either.

Cameras do give the idea to some people that you have something to hide, others its just means you're a lil nuts.

so that's all they need for a warrant. damn. that's what i was afraid of. you know it's funny, doing this shit i'm always thinking about my karma and keeping a low profile. being a "criminal" has made me a much much better citizen. i won't do anybody wrong as long as i'm doing this. i'm growing for personal medical reasons and for a few close friends who think i got a really good connection. WHAT'S MY ****ING DEBT TO SOCIETY???????????? if i were to get busted when there are open houses on the block exclusively for selling dangerous drugs, that would be some ****ed up shit.

nobody knows anything except you guys. it's a big part of my life and i can't talk about it. it is hard sometimes to keep my mouth shut. jail would be harder.

I think they need more than that. They need a reliable source plus something. If thats all it took, you know how many people would call the police in anger and try to get someone busted.

Exactly!, if all they got was an anonymous tip then they will just do a "knock and talk" in the hope that you'll just let them in without a warrant, plus the usual surveillance for a couple months.

id just like to say crack and heroin dont make anybody do anything-they give you a reason to need money thats all....... if someone robs you while theyre on smack theyd have robbed you when theyre off it if they thought they need the money to buy little johnny a bike..... shit like that is in you or it isnt... how do i know...well 5 years of smack and another few of methadone and never mugging, robbing, burgling any1 myseklf i know its true. recently we had a knock at the door and turns out its a local sherrif standing at the door to arrest me on a warrent "not drug related" i just go quietly when we get out side away from any one else he states that he had a complaint that i was growing in a small out building on my place that was filed by the same person that filed for the warrent. i ask u got a warrent he said no i say thats fine lets go find us some pot let me get a key lmao at this point we go to the building in question mind u this cop is easy 350 lbs + and its a 3 ft jump to get into the building hahaha. he asked me to inter first i said nope u wanna look go look u want me in there first get a warrent! he finally gets up there and is asking all kinds of questions why is there a a/c unit installed why is there power hooked up why is there dirt on the floor why are there all those buckets there then procedes to tell me that the $7 floro light is a grow light and hes gonna take it for evidence i just laughed at the light thing and told him u better get the ones in my kitchen under the cabinets too they light my counter tops nice but if you need evidance take them. if theres no warrent dont let them in if u even think u have some thing to hide. keep paraphinalla to a minium i will not buy papers in my little town nor do i let any thing elese be known get rid of all your "garbage" in a public place away from home or burn it if u live in a rural area.
moral of the story if they get a tip they will find a way in the sherif even said i seen u in town sevral times but needed to get u here so i could search nice of him huh? they are sneaky and will do any thing in there power to make the big bust and get there name in the paper in our little community

Thats why you can come here and talk about your plants.. I understand the temptation and I know its hard but you're right spending time in a orange jumpsuit is a lot harder.
