some dick followed me from the grow shop today

Yeah, so I made a run to the grow shop to pick up some clone gel. It was a last minute thing so I had to take my own car. As I'm leaving I notice a large Ford 4X4 pickup behind me at a light. I make a mental note and start driving towards home.

Go about 10 mins up the highway and get off on my exit. I notice that the truck gets off on the same exit, so I go the opposite direction from my home. I take a few random turns to see if he follows. He does and I'm 100% sure he's tailing me.

I turn into a neighborhood I know only has two exits and pull over on the side of the road to let him go past me. He keeps going and once he's out of sight I count to ten and go in the same direction he did, hoping he'll double back and I can get a good look at his face. He must have made a pretty quick u turn cause after a couple blocks he is coming back towards me. As he passes me I get a decent look -- white dude, sideburns, sunglasses and he's driving with his hand kinda over his mouth to try and cover his face. He doesn't look back at me.

Anyway, I keep going and make it out the back of the neighborhood and take the LOOOOONG way home, constantly keeping my eyes peeled for anyone tailing me. No one does so I head home and now I'm kinda paranoid. I'll never be going to that store again.

Luckily my car is registered to an old address where I haven't been for over a year and a half, but I have re-register it this month with my current address so no peace of mind there.

I don't know, I'm only on my first grow running six plants for personal use and I'm considering just scrapping it all for a month or two until I get my confidence back. I grow kitchen herbs and scotch bonnet peppers hydroponically so I'd have an alibi for the equipment if I do get raided. Would have to stash my seeds, the Cervantes book and my grow journal though, as well as scrub my computer.

Tough decisions, tough decisions...

the book and your grow kit are perfectly legal, it's the seeds, plants and dried bud you have to worry about. the fact that you bought stuff from a hydro store shouldn't be enough to get a warrent. if you decide to keep growing than you need to be absolutly certain about your odor control and any other tell tales . if it was a cop following you he is probably pissed of that you made him and the fact that you spotted him might make him think that you were a professional grower on the lookout for cops. if it was a narc it won't take him long to cross reference your cars license through the various data bases and find out were you live currently.

thats ****ing gay shit man....i dont know what i would do in your situation...if it is a cop like said above it wont be long until he finds out where you live thru your vehicle...man i wish i could come up with somthing good to tell ya...good luck man, i dont know what i would do if my grow was compromised so badly...
Hey this might sound dumb or risky to alot of you but if you end up being followed by this same **** head again you should really try to pull to the side and flag him down and ask him why the **** he is following you....

If that shit happened to me and I had my cellphone I'd have the Sheriffs dept on his ass with the quickness.Its more likely a thief than a cop and if he's undercover,you just embarrassed his ass good.You arent acting innocent when you come from a legitimate place of business,you are innocent.

the problem with calling the sherrif and telling him that someone followed you home from the growshop is that your telling the sherrif you shop at a grow shop and you are nervous enough about it to be checking your mirrors to see if your being followed. it doesn't matter how many hydroponic tomatoe plants you got growing in your backyard, the sherrif is going to think your growing weed and is going to start sniffing around your house looking for an easy bust.

Thankfully the average grow ripper doesn't have enough brain cells to think about staking out grow shop users or there'd be a lot more of this kind of thing going on. Seems like we're under attack from from all sides - doesn't anybody actually do an honest days work anymore (I actually consider growing to be honest work!).

I'd have left out the part about being followed from a hydro store,it's irrelevent.If someone is stalking me in a vehicle I'm going to find out why.I still say rippers are much more likely than cops to follow you from a hydro store unless you are already under investigation.I'd want to see exactly how the police respond to my "emergency" also,that can be very useful too.

Hope you didn't miss the second tail. Often times they will give up one surveillance team to catch you with the second.

A friend of mine was followed home by DEA and busted from the grow shop. They did a knock and talk on him and smelled his grow. They do indeed still use this tactic.

I would just be very careful, and if you answer your door to anyone, go outside, LOCK AND SHUT the door. If they try the "I smell weed" say "I don't smell shit, get off my property" and ESCORT them to the STREET.

Good job watching your six. Just be on the lookout for the second team when you see you're being followed. There may be more than two even...hope that helps.

yes i almost backed in to a prick that was trying to follow me from my shop...i have had people ask for samples all kinds of shit...they are cops or thieves same thing in my book and i tell them all the same thing i dont grow that shit man i grow orchids thats where the money is lol...peace

This had far less to do with smelling the grow than the ignorance of the person opening the door. For all they knew at that point he was growing tomatoes or something. They can SAY they smell whatever they want. It's the reaction of the person they say it to that matters most.

First, they are on private property in a professional capacity with no probable cause.

Second, the smell OUTSIDE the house could be coming from down the block. Catching a whiff of something while trespassing on private property doesn't mean squat. Hell, the neighbors could have a forest in their back yard.

The person in question did not understand their rights or this game very well, and could have probably avoided the bust. They also came the first time under the guise of looking for someone in the neighborhood who was supposed to be selling a car. They then returned a second time and proceeded to enter and search without a warrant. That story is a big mess....

Yeah, I would definently let the shop know. If they don't seem pissed or concerned, something might be fishy, as i would be super pissed if someone was stalking my customers at my retail business, whether cops or thieves.
If you see him again, turn the tables and follow him, go on the offense. get his tag# and you can find out who he is. Call the dmv or police(from a payphone) and use the ol ''hey i found a license tag in my yard by the road, do you have a name or address for it I can mail it to?'' or some other bs line, should work if you sound innocent enough. f'n thieves and leo
