Soma Seeds Lavender

Is soma seed's Lavender the original lavender or is it a cross between lavender and soma#10? In the strain descriptions, the strain is referred to as soma #10 so is soma#10=lavender or something?

Sorry for this stupid question but its been bugging me

Thanks

Soma For a Period of time called his strains number's, not sure what order??? But as he has went along he has been giving his strains names...

This is just what I have understood from reading about the guy,

i don't think all of his strains were numbered untill named, i think it was just at first when he first started releasing his strains...

There are a couple lavender's that I have heard of, but his I'm sure is a more COmmon one...

Not a bad Question at all, not close to being stupid... Shit it would bug me too!

Peace

I've grown soma's Lavender x G13Haze a few years ago now and found 2 phenotypes from 4 fem's,1 indica/sativa in structure with a hashy aroma and the other more sativa christmas tree shape with a hazy aroma, both yielded quite well to.

overmind: there are at least 2 different lavenders in the world that i know of. there is somas lavender (an afghani skunk mix i believe) and the legendary Lavender from norcal (mendo, so hum) which at this point is clone only and many think is a sister to purple urkle. they are not the same. the norcal strain has been around since the seventies and no offense to soma (i love his rockbud!) but he probably tagged his strain with this name because of perceived similarites to the cali strain. (much like his NYCD which may or may not have diesel in it, he got the strain in seed form which is suspect for a clone only) according to his book he named #10 lavender because of the color it turned.

Interesting, can anybody back that fact up? This is what I was thinking also cause I assumed there was some cali cut named lavender (Does it turn purple?) and that soma named #10 lavender just because of the color it turned.

No sorry thats wrong......SOMAs Lavender isn´t called Lavender because of the colour......its the taste..it tasted and smell like lavender...a unique smell like from all SOMA strains........
many many Lavender LOvers search the colourfull black pheno.....and every Lavender Pheno(i got) has the Lavender tasted and smell......but not the colour.... so it has nothing to do with the colour :cuss: ....is about the tasted and the smelling :joint:

sorry for my bad english

Yeah, the lavender pack i grew out didnt turn purple at all really. it was nice bud though, lots of stretch in flower, that was a pain but helped make some long heavy colas. the smell was unique and strong....with a relaxed mellow high.

from somas web site: "An exotic looking strain, Soma #10 develops the darkest purple coloration you can imagine. The color is intense, with the leaves turning nearly to black at the ends, they are so deeply saturated with color. The extra dense buds give off a sensually spicy smell akin to Afghani hash"

i have his book "organic gardening w/ soma an he states that soma # 10 was given the name lavender because of the color. ive never had nors seen somas lav but just going on what the breeder said about his strain. didnt mean to offend anyone.

im glad to here evreyone who has personally grown it and posted in this thread says this herb is dank. its good to be wrong on this. coler is arbitrary, taste and smell on the other hand are very important aspects to me, likely more so than potency to an extent. id rather puff on some tastey head candy than some thing "super potent" w/ no flavor. like i said in my earlier posts, in somas book he states soma#10 turnes a lavender coler w/ leaves almost black by harvest. since he was most likely decribing his mother lav plant and not her offspring, its not hard to imagine that this purple trait was recessive and only shows in a small % of the offspring. its also not hard for me to imagine this strain tasting like lavender too. all in all im glad this herb tastes so good to all who seem to try it!

peace

Cali lavender is bomb. don't think that anyone outside of California is responsible for the lavenser I am currently growing/smoking. Smells and tastes like wildberry pop-tarts. not very purple, but some...
