Soler & Palau TD-250

Guys,

I'm needing to add a carbon filter setup to a 10x12 room. I'll be pulling the air through the filter; the filter is only for odor control and not ventilation at this time. So, I guess the filter will be what's called polishing the air. Anyway I've got a phresh 8" @ 950 CFM filter now and need to just get a good quality fan. I already have a S&P TD-200S but it only flows max at 530 CFM and I think this may not be quite enough for the filter especially seeing how static pressure will reduce the max even more. I really like the S&P for how quite it is and so well made but they don't have a silent series model larger than the 200s but they do have others. I'm thinking of pairing my new filter with a 10" S&P TD-250 with has a max flow rate of 754 CFM and and using a 10 to 8 inch reducer.

Here is the filter I have:

Here is the fan in question:

Here is the fan's specs:

The only other fan I see are the vortex and such. I really like the S&P I have but have nothing to compare it to as it's the first fan I've bought. These are the other two I'm looking at and perhaps make a silencer box for it. Thanks Guys!!

Other possible fans are the vortex like ones, here are an 8 and 10 inch that got good reviews:

Also, forgot to say the reason I was considering a 10" fan for my 8" filter is because I've heard it's better to over size the fan and run it on low or reduce with a speed controller. The phresh people said to pair the filter with the same size fan but I read so many places people going under the filters rated flow and having very good results. I'm not sure how much under is acceptable though. Like I said the TD200S I have now is only rated at 530 and the filter is at 950!

Im not really an airflow ratings expert, and I normally try to oversize both to ensure no smell escapes. My room is a little smaller than yours at 6x12x6high.

I am currently utilizing an S+P 250s(silent) (the 6" one incase I messed the model number up) and it pulls air through a Mountain Air 640 filter, which is the taller filter in 6" option. Works lovely and quiet acting as the only exhaust method for 3x 600w bulbs. Stanky flowers inside with no hint of smell coming through. Next level stanky flowers.

I have a 5" S&P that's been going strong for nearly 3 years but I've had bad luck w/ their 6" model & squeaky bearings. Went thru 3 in 2 years, one being a warranty replacement. No hassle with that.

I broke down & bought a 6" vortex vtx. It's big & heavy & not the best physical fit in my circumstance but it's very quiet when turned down & has no bearing noise at all. Solid unit with a solid warranty if you buy from an authorized dealer. It shows every sign of being what I want- bulletproof reliable.

Other folks I know have good results from canfans but they're not as quiet at the same airflow.
