Im growing in a bacement,my soil temps ay night are between56-58degrees fairn. Are these soil temps too low?Im flowering so 12 hours of this temp.,Air temp gets down to the same, right at 75 during the day.Two are in 5 gal buckets, two in 2 gal buckets and one in a 10''pot.The med is pro-mix with just a little extra perlite.I cant use a heater(old house only one plug in the room). My room is a 3x3 hydro-hut with a 400 hps with 123watts of cfls.Ps theres also another small room thats why i cant use a heater Overload the circut. Thanks for any feedback.Stay Safe! :rasta:

bugbud them temps are real low have u tried placing the pots on styrofoam or wood ?
the low temps in my past experances will slow groth down a little not mutch though. for heat what i do is use 2 timers timed oppisite each other heat on lights off and vice versa that way u can use 1 household circut

it would seem a bit too cold. Your roots will stunt in the colder lights off temps. Not to mention that you are increasing your chances of condensation, thus mold and mildew

I also recommend getting them off the floor, use stryofoam, to directly on floor, and then put something on top of styrofoam.

Good luck with your gorw

That is a bit cold, I kept popping seeds that would grow about a week then just stop and start to die. A heat mat brought soil temps up to 70-80 F and growth exploded.

Run the lights at night to provide heat. (12 hour darkness during the warmest part of the day) When temperatures fall below 68 degrees f, water becomes more sticky and is slower to move. You will see things like phosphorus deficiency (purple leaves) and micronutrient disorders like iron, manganese, and zinc.

Happy New Year icmag! :friends:

Ok im back, lost my internate for a couple of days.confedrate69,i already have i 1''thick foam under the hydrohut, then i have carpet on the inside under pots.So its floor, thick foam,HH,carpet, pots;some pots even have wood under them for a even canopy.SanSemilla these are 4 weeks flowering,i would never try to start seeds in this cold.A heat mat would be good but i would need atleast 9 of the reg. ones.I changed the light cycle,i have it running at night;Same thing 51 night temps..Im not sure what to do i just tring to get though this grow with some decent bud without going broke on heaters or buying more sh...t!Thanks for all the feedback.Stay Safe!!

Dude
I use an non insulated part of my house for my grow area, If I had done nothing to it, it would be at least 32 or lower in there right now, this is what I did to prevent that.
1. I sectioned off my grow area with a heavy plastic, that was I am only worried about my area that my plants are in. I basically just stapled it to the ceiling and let it hang to the floor, that way heat stays in teh area I want it too
2. I have a 15 dollar space heater from Wal Mart- This took a while to set up, but after a bit of trial and error, I found a spot on the dial that does not require me to check onit all night. The temps in my "smaller area" now stay at about 68 during the night, and keeps my humidity below 40.

So total cost, about 20 bucks, extra cost to electrical bill per month, less than ten.

Thanks DR Dog,thats i good idear,i might try that, the problem is i only need this space for 5 more weeks, than its a new area.I found something on goggle that sounds awsome for people with low temps at night. The site is Basking Lizards, its aHeat Wave cerimic heat emmitter that puts out NO visable light,$16.00us for a 40 watt one,Take a look they seem very nice!Stay Safe!!

how about an electric blanket? -- on the floor,,,,

Maybe on top of the styro and under the carpet a and set low to start.

Dude its coldest when the lights are OFF. You could use the same circuit and run a small heater at night. Wouldn't overload the circuit if the light wasn't on at the same time.

CarharttKidd, its not so much i would overload the circut as i dont want to spend most of my elect on heat,i dont mind spending on lights but heat not so much.Im going to be moving them in a warm space this weekend. Thanks eneryone for all your great ideas, happy harvesting.Stay Safe!!
