soil ph how important?

i was just wondering if you use,1 bag ocaen forest mixed with, 1bag light warior with 2 cups dolimite lime added do you still have to adjust ph to 6.8 with gh, ph up, or down? reason i'm asking is cuzz i read in skunk mag that if you ues ph up or down you could serriesly harm mycro bio life in the soil

with that being said light warior has mycrozahil fungi as well as voodoo juice has sum typ of fungi as well as tarantul by useing ph up or down does'nt that make useing these products obsoleet? (spelling sorry..)

A proper PH allows the plant to take in minerals.

I would back off the dolomite lime some. 2 tablespoons per gallon of soil is good. This will keep your PH buffered within the correct limits....

Are you asking if you use dolomite lime in your soil mix do you still need to adjust nutrient or water ph?I do but wonder if its necessary to tell you the truth.Whether your pour a ph 8 or ph 5 solution through properly limed soil the runoff will still read near neutral, all the way until harvest matter of fact. Its just so easy for me anymore I know just what to add with what amount of fert I'm using so I just do it automatically anymore, better safe than sorry but thats really a good question. If the lime does its job properly I'd say no,but dont not do it on my account lol

I use FFOF out of the bag with great results.

FFOF is ready out of the bag.

It says right on the back of the bag in capital letters.

READY TO USE OUT OF THE BAG.

Seriously.

The water I use for outdoor is pH 8 or so and I have no problems.

I ran the ocean f. right out of the bag, becuzz it said.. right out of the bag,
but the lime they added in there, did'nt go the whole length of the flower time

i thought 2 cup's was a little 2 much...

ride' on, for the advice growerz.

I use 1 tbls per gallon soil mix with ocean forest, something like promix you'd be better off with 2 tbls gallon

I just ran a soil test on my ocean forest grow, shes about halfway through flowering.
The color indicates it is at least 7.5 (the highest this kit goes). Should this be nudged a bit lower? If so, how do I go about doing that? My grow is in my sig.

Does this soil run a little high on the ph? I'm thinking I may have contaminated it with my somewhat hard city water which I alternate with ph neutral water.

thanks

I never really got into all the P.H testing... not even in my saltwater reef tank... HAHA I can be soo lazy at times. But its mostly that i do not have the money for the expensive test equipment.

Just remember to use organic soil that drains well.

Sgt Stedanko thats real unusual for ocean forest,if anything it should be a little low.I always use 1 tbls dolomite per gallon soil mix to buffer the ph,but thats to keep it from dropping in flower mostly. The only way I know of to get a high soil ph like that especially during flower is if your nute mix/water has a very high ph.How are you testing nute and water PH.How are you checking soil ph?General hydroponics makes the best test kit available for 15 dollars,up down and indicator is all you need.

Well Im using a kit with solution and barium sulfate. The plants are doing well, I just dont want to see 'em stunt. I'm more than half way through flowering right now, should I go out of my way to bring this back in line. Am I correct under the assumption that cannabis enjoys a slightly acidic environment?

Yea ideally a soil ph of 6.4 is pretty near perfect, anything between 6 and 7 is usually sufficient for nute uptake.Problem is PH is exponential,so a 6 PH is actually 100 times lower than a 7 PH and a thousand times lower than a ph 8.So a 6.9 PH is about 80 times higher than a 6.1PH if you catch my drift.I try to keep soil ph in the low sixes by adding lime to my soil mix and keeping nute PH closer to 6 than 7.

Is there any way I can bring the soil ph down a bit in an established grow, or do I need to concentrate on the water/nute ph at this point. Viewing what I've got going on below, should I even mess around?

I'm about halfway through flowering, pic below.
I'm usually one to leave well enough alone, but I don't want to starve these babies when they need food most.

I'm guessing these plants acclimate themselves, by adjusting the ph to a more suitable point do I run any unecessary risks?

Guess my question to all you old pros out there (my first successful grow here) is whether I should keep doin what I'm doing, change my water to lower the ph, or somthing more drastic.

Thanks, folks!

I probably would just use a low PH nute m like a 6 PH or so,your plants look great and that what you should go by.I wonder if you tested runoff with GH Ph test kit what you would read.Try and get that test kit if you can.And thanks for straightening me out on "exponentials"why me,I mustv'e been pretty buzzed to write a 7 PH is a hundred times lower than an 8 lol.it didnt even sound right as I was typing it lol."exponentially"increases in multiples of 10 not 100 ballastman you ass,.

lol, it wasn't meant as a slam ballast, just a subtle post to put the correct info up.
i'd say ya musta been buzzed , heheh. just a minor detail anyways. plus you got more than your share of dead on helpful posts to your credit.
others should be thankful to have ya round here man. keep it up.

so 1 tbls per gallon with, ocean f. and light warior will keep the ph at around 6.4 - 6.8? after adding the dolimite lime it takes you through the whole flowering period?
