soil mix question

Guest

not having a local hydro shop(well good one) and needing more soil i was able to track down

FF Ocean Forrest

the merchant suggested taking one bag of that, one bag of Promix Organic and half that total volume of chunky perlite. Do you think this will work well to flower out some plants in? I still have some FF POM Fruit and Flower as well as FF POM Starter mix which i can add as well. I prefer not to order anything online or visit another shop.

i also have a bag of organic top soil, and have access to regular nurseries and home depots....

suggestions?

Hey bettlejuice,

The mix he suggests will work, especially with some FF POM added to supplement. In this line, have you thought about using the MSM? Does that shop carry FF Light warrior and Happy Frog(?)? But regardless FFOF+Promix+Perlite w/ POM will work great. You might also try FFOF+mush comp+perlite - I have used that with success. Best of luck!

unfortunatly they only carry the FFOF mix. I can get "Bumper Crop" organic mix as well, seems to be pretty dynamic.

how much POM would u suggest adding?

currently i am using MSM and the plants are happy, but dont have access to get all the FFLW and FFPM right now.

Try what the clerk suggested (FFOF/Promix/perlite) and add the POM at 2-4 cups/50gal. Alternatively, try FFOF/Mush Compost/perlite and add the POM at 1-2 cups/50gal. Both mixes may need some supplemental feeding. Hope that helps.

No damn given.

And don't forget the powdered dolomite lime @ 2 tbs./gal. or 1 cup/cu.ft. of mix. I'd add 20% worm castings or home made compost as well. Mushroom compost or composted cow manure will also work.

i ended up with two versions.

ocean forrest, promix organic and perlite
ocean forrest, promix organic, bumper crop(organic composts, meals, etc) and perlite.

all the plants in either are pretty happy. I also took some mildly used mm mix from some plants in flowering that were males and used some bumper crop/ocean forrest and more perlite for some more flowering later. gonna let it sit a few weeks and get happy.

You should get very good results while using FFOF. I use this exact soil all the time and have had great results every time. I add one bag of Fox Farm Light Warrior to every bag of FFOF....
