Soil microheard sensitive to pH

In soil science we learned the microheard is extremely sensitive to pH.

Bacteria thrive from pH 6-8 for the most part, most microheards enjoy 6-7pH, and fungi works from pH 4-8.

When pH is below 6, bacteria and others slow metabolism or can become inactive.

At that point, fungi take over and decompose but they do it veryyyyy slowwwlyyyy.

Keep in mind I am aware that this is a broad characterization of themicroheard in terms of pH. Anyways,

I remember Burn1 years ago on OG saying how the microheard buffers pH. But if they are so sensitive to pH, I wonder how the buffering is achieved, say, when you shock them with a fish emulsion that has a pH of 4 or so.

Nothing was mentioned about microheard acting as a buffer, although we haven't gotten to soil biology quite yet.

Point of this thread:
Does anyone have any resources that talk about microheards acting as a soil pH buffer?

No luck for me as far as actual literature; if you are in school perhaps check to see if your school has acess to Blackwell Synergy or the like for good essays and such. They require paid subscriptions to which I am not a member; alot of universities do have memberships though.

It's humates (humic acids) that "buffer" pH. Dolomite lime "adjusts" pH. Microheard is the term used for the bacteria that eat and digest the organic nutes we put into our grow medium. The waste (guano) from the bacteria is what our plants eat.
