Soil infestation

I have a 56 gallon rubbermaid tote full of organic soil(ff products) that I believe to be the source of a symphilid infestation. What can be done to the 40+ gallons of soil mix to rid it of any creepy crawly fuckers? I have a bag of DE+ that I have been dressing the bagged soil with. Should I mix this into the tote?

You can use a tobacco juice recipe, or just use BT, which is mosquito dunks, 1/2 dunk per gallon of water.

If you want to use the recipe I can post it for you.

Other wise use the BT and repeat every 7 days if necessary. What is DE+?

Ive had a bit of fungus gnats hanging out in the bottom holes of the buckets. I was thinking of using some dunks to finish them off.

When you use the dunks, do you add them to the nutrient solution, or to a plain watering?

DE is diatamacceous(sp) earth, not sure about the plus. How much water should I add to the bin? There are no drain holes or anything.

Well, is the 56 gallon tub full of soil? how many gallons do you estimate?
You won't need to use much, BUT you will need to mix it up real good to ensure all soil is wet, and when you do this; for about a week you will need to keep mixing it to ensure all the excess water drys out so you won't get any mold or fungus growth in the soil.

I am not sure about DE... I am sure it would work; but I can't give ya the dosages to use....

I would say there are about 40 gallons of soil in there. I will try this.

Ok, then ya, you can take my advice on my previous post if you like, but you will have to mix it nearly everyday until the soil drys so you won't get mold or fungus growth.
