Soil and Nute Life Span

Hello all name's StickyIcky I'm just getting back into the scene here, and I have a question for the more experienced.

I went to the grow shop in August 05 and bought -

Nutes
Fox Farm- Organic Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom
Liquid Karma

Soil
Fox Farm Light Warrior Soil
Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil

These things have been in a storage shed for a few month the rest of the time just in the closet. Do you guys think these will be safe to use in a new system? Or should I just buy new stuff? I really don't want any pests or disease or anything like that.

I wouldn't trust old nutes. I had a problem with Liquid Karma and CalMag+ that I had from early 2005 - my plants struggled for a cycle every time I used one of these, scratched my head, until I looked closely at the stuff. Both had gone very cloudy and opaque - fresh stuff is clear with no solids visible. I bought new stuff and the difference is night and day - in fact using the dose of CalMag I was using before I overdosed them!

My rec would be to replace... I'm only going to keep ferts for max a year, then out they go.

Bigbloom might still work but youre better off just gettin new nutes. Sorry dude.

Try a search next time, get your answer and speak with knowledge.

Old nutes can kill a garden and give no warning. When in doubt - contact the factory. Problem is,, we as consumers have no idea when a bottle was made - it could have sat on the dealers shelf a year or longer - we need to push manufacturers to date product(while you have forxfarms's attention - tell tem they should be dating the bottles)

Foxfarms liquid nutes have a limited shelf life.

when in doubt - use it on the lawn.

You are coming up on its shelflife pretty soon but I dont know if I'd just trash everything,I know with grow big and tiger bloom they will coagulate and get little "beebees" you can hear when you shake the bottle,unless that was present I'd at least try them to see how they work

I have 3/4 of a bottle of tiger bloom and 1/2 a gallon of Big Bloom that dosen't rattle ballastman - your welcome to it.

they fuckin killed my garden. Sounds like they are good by your scale though

Hey - - your the one that tells others "try it" and if it don't rattle - YOU WOULD USE IT,, but you really wont; so I'd suggest you post about what you know - especially when it involves the health and welfare of other peoples garden

I came into this thread to let the poster know there is a potential problem, you cam in and posted some very bad info that I can positively prove is wrong. I kind of try to stop the spread of bad info - if you feel intimidated - that's not my fault. It's not you, it's your continues dissemination of crappy info. - If you were 1/2 as wise as you profess, you would have read the "stored in the shed" and that is one clue that shut the book - but you'd sooner have him "try it" cause it don't rattle - well I have some that don't rattle,, I'll be a nice guy and tell you it's bad in my garden - but I'd be happy to let you test it out.

just read this buddy then make your own mind up http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=44500&highlight=shelf+life+ferts personally any FF ferts except big bloom if its pushn 2yr old i would toss out after the bad experince i had with tiger bloom. big bloom is the only FF ferts i'll use any more, now FF soil on the other hand i love it and wouldnt use any other
