SOG info needed, thanks :-)

Firstly a big hello to everyone, this is my first post. I have been reading these forums for some time now and I must say, the knowledge and know-how of you guys, aswell as the openness & willingness to help means this forum gives off great vibes. :groupwave:

So back to the topic, I am keen to know a bit more about the Sea Of Green method, or more to the point, which strains are good for it and which are not. Can you use Autoflower's, or is more control needed of flowering stage etc? (I'm referring to indoor growing by the way.)

What sort of plant per M sq. will I be looking at? I have a space of 2m x 0.6m x 1.5m. Of course the yield will vary upon many things, but what can I be looking at for a SOG grow to be deemed successful (g/M-sq.)

I have read Kodiak's guide to topping, training etc, very informative I must say, great read. So I know SOG is all about the main Cola, so no topping and training required, but are there any other techniques I can adopt? Basically I'm after as much info as you can send my way.

I am reasonably new to this so apologies if I've talked any rubbish. I hope this is in the right topic also? Many thanks in advance for your input, much appreciated :)

Jay.

autos are fun, and a great learning tool they have their place i find they do much better when done hydro or n 5 gallon+ pots. feminized would be easier for a sog but i dont do that. with that said.
a sog is most often done with clones for uniformity. dont get me wrong im sure you can get a landrace indica (ganesh- from mandela seeds is coming to mind. ) and have a perfectly uniform grow. but still separating males after the light switch would not be optimal for many reasons.

If you use ruderalis you'll need to start from seed each run, and you'll need a lot of seeds which could get expensive. Going seed as well will not give you the uniformity across plants that a well dialed SOG needs to produce at its best. Starting with a non SOG run with seeds of your choice grown normally with cuts taken right before flower and labeled will allow you to choose the best of the run (for yield, growth characteristics, etc) and then bush that out to take a set of consistent cuts from.

No idea on this one, but a 1 gram per watt of light used is a general benchmark for being a journeyman grower from what I see around these parts. A lot of people say they hit that, but doing it consistently is the key. (My best is .6gpw, for comparison).
