SOG growing hydro vs soil? Help

Hello everyone hows it going?
Im stuck between hydro and soil, i want to know which is better for sog before i buy my equipment
Im going to purchase a 5x5 tent under 1000w or maybe 2 600w hps
Im not sure if hydro 4x4 tray with 4inch rockwool cubes or just small pots and soil...

What yields better quality and quantity?
Ebb & flow vs soil
What way is it cheaper?
Please help me out... Or if you have any links you would like to share i would appreciate it.. Thanks!!

soil is cheaper, easier, tastes better, and yield is comparable to hydro. I started growing pot about 6 months ago and started out in hydro. it's really complicated and so many problems can arise. I'm now using my hydro ebb and flow table as a DTW for when I flush and catch tray for run off. hydro also makes everything happen a lot quicker so deficiencies and ph problems will show on their leaves within hours sometimes which if you're not experienced in diagnosing can lead to poor health and frustration. I'm much happier in soil and have less worry about root rot and ph issues. now I'm certain that my plants will be easier to grow and that good sir, is priceless.

also in SOG growing, picking the right strain is key. you want one that will not be bushy and short. best ones for this method are tall and grow straight up. this way you have more air flow between plants since they're growing 4 per sq ft. my smallest plants sometimes have the best formed buds. I've highly considered this method but am too worried about numbers of plants. when choosing strains, a lot of breeders will list if its good for SOG as well.

Thanks yea, i was thinking maybe so strain that is more of a single cola dominant plant, how many mothers do you think would be good? For a grow with 40-50 clones... Also would it better to have 2 lights 600w or 1 1000w

if I had my light set up to do over again, I would choose 2-600w light instead on one 1000w because the light distribution is even over the canopy PLUS 600 w bulbs give you more lumen output per watt than a 1000 so you get more light for your dollar.

I've never had mothers. I just take from them before they go into bloom. but in SOG you will have to chop a lot of clones of your mother while still leaving enough so she can continue growing. I think the amount of mothers depends on how big you grow them out. I would go with 6 smaller mothers so you get a nice variety to smoke on without freaking them out by chopping at them.

Auto drip = timer that auto waters
Dtw = drain to waste
2gal/3gal coco with perlite = coco mixed with perlite in a two or 3 gal pots
is nice = producing very well
