if your doing SoG then you can put anywhere between 9-18 plants per sq. foot, a 1000-watt HPS will cover around 25 sq. feet, so id say 100 plants in 1 gal bags, if you where to squeez them together you could fit 225 to 450 plants and have a true Sea Of Green.

and indicas are the way to go, sativas wont work in SoG very well.

I'd like to know how you are going to get 9-18 1G pots in a sq ft. A sq ft is 12"x12". At 9 pots...the pot can be no wider than 1.33". Maybe someone could point me to 1.33" wide pots.

realistically....a 1G grow bag is about 7" sq. So lets go with that. 4 of them put together will be 14" sq.

I recommend if you are only going to grow to 8"...then use 1/2G bags or pots. Thats all you'll need...and you can get more in. I have grown SOG in 1/2G and 1G from the same hieght...and the yeild was no better in the 1G bag.

I don't do SOG anymore cause of the high clone count required...plus I find the colas are a little bigger and much harder and denser when you allow the plant to grow more roots.

Your choice though....ya never know for sure till ya try. Why listen to me.

I also recommend indica for SOG. Less side branching. Remember...no topping.

Have fun.

Cheers,

if you wread my post you would see that I took the fact that he was using 1 gal bags, so I just did 4 bags per sq foot times 25 and you get 100 bags.

I think you should re-read your original post. Not tryin to be a dick....but your numbers don't add up.

What size containers are you gonna use to get 450 plants in a 25' sq area?
I have 32' sq area to work with. Using 1/2G bags I can fit 128 plants, as each bag has a 6" footprint. So a 25' sq area is 5'x5' correct? Or 60"x60" correct? So that would mean there is room for 100 1/2G bags in 25' sq area. A three inch pot will only get you 200 plants. So that means the footprint of a pot would need to be less than 1 1/2" to get 450 plants in 25' sq area.

See what I mean. No biggie....but the numbers jumped out at me, and I couldn't see why you would claim such figures.

you can fit 450 plants in 25' sq. area by using an ebb & flow table filled with hydroton and the plants spaced less than 1" appart, I said he could do 100 bags and if he could squeez them together (as in using hydroponics) then he could fit 450 in a 25' sq. area.

sorry for the misunderstanding....I had no idea you started talking about hydroponics. I wonder how big the buds get if the plants are 1" apart? I guess the diamater will need to be less than 1" of the buds. Not really something I would want to invest 8 or more weeks of flowering in though.

I think a few less plants, which will allow some air movement underneath the canopy, which is nice to have, would make a much larger yeild.

450 is the max for 25 sq. foot, and I think that the buds/plants would fuse/grow together.
