Prizes are seeds & forum premium access. Come join in!
this is a great idea! i guess there would be those who would say that it fits into the POTM categorie, but lets face it not everyone enjoys a nice trich shot so some very talented photographers out their might be missing out just because most people preffer a juicy bud shot.
Sounds like a great idea. If only I could figure out how to work my camera. I know this thing can take amazing pictures, but I'm still having some trouble getting basic shots of my plants. (Canon A620)
If this does happen, count me in, it'll be plenty of motivation to master my camera!
nice shot doobieduck...i like the timing of the shot also.
i love taking trich shots, though i consider myself an amateur i thought i would post a couple of tips incase this goes ahead.
if your camera has a macro function you will probably want to turn off the flash and go for some longer exposures..set to manual with a low f-stop.
shoot indoors and turn your exhaust fans off. when taking a long exposure just the slightest bit of movement at that magnification, even at 1/500 will result in a blurry image.
emmm...use a timer function if your camera has one, the movement from manually releasing the shutter can also result in a blurry image...oh and try not to breath on the plant when the shutter is released.
here is a site dedicated to macro photography. it also has some forums with some tips on shooting through microscopes incase you dont have macro function on your camera. http://www.macrophotography.org/
oh yeah i forgot..tripod tripod tripod. though thats probably obvious.
Excellent idea Verite...thanks for the suggestion....and just when I was racking my brain to come up with a new contest idea.
I'll get the specifics put together and the contest underway soon.
In the meantime, ya'll get to practicing...cause macro shots (good one's anyway) are quite difficult to take. They need to be spot-on in focus & lighting or the effect is lost (use of a tripod helps tremendously)....out of focus just looks blurry and hard to make out...so this contest should hopefully peak the interest of those who enjoy macro photography and those who enjoy looking at the excellent shots taken by those who are experienced and have the equipment to achieve such shots....or who get lucky and capture a nice pic (I'm one of those!).
Stay tuned.....................rules and entry thread to be posted soon.
Hello Verite! Long time buddy. I was starting to wonder if you fell of the edge of the Earth...glad to have you back!
I personally liked the macro shot of the female genetalia with the toy baby. Oh well. Some people just have no sense of humor and get offended way to easy.
You deserve a prize just for the idea. Well, your macros rock too, maybe that thread will keep you around more often.
I also liked the toy V macro, and if there people getting uptight about that shit, well, they won't be too happy with the amount of OG kids putting up asses and g strings and the like....same shit..human body, whatever just like janet's nipple LOL
Theres really no point because Bubbleman would put all our cams to shame his scope cam, he might have pics in his gallery or you could probably just ask him if it cant be found.
Flamengo nice pic man, I have it as my background on my other computer.
Nice to see that there are already many of you itching to get the contest started.
Will be posted soon, so save your pics till then please.
Although not written up just yet, can say that one of the requirements to enter is that your photo must be located in your gallery here on the site, no off-site links, so in preparation for when the contest starts, please know you'll need your entry pic in your gallery here on ICM to be eligible.
Stay tuned......and thanks for your patience. Just rounding up some awesome prizes now.
Just a simple old nikon coolpix that they havent made for a few years. The old ones were killer for doing macros but the new ones kinda suck. Thanks fro the heads up.
