so quicks 2 gallon buckets

I need some black 2 gallon buckets similar to SQ's. Please do not post a website with 2 gallon pails and buckets if you have not YOURSELF bought them and used them. I have found many websites through SQ's threads but no-one ever gave a follow up on them and I have been everywhere looking and this is holding me back. I don't want to paint white buckets, that is a last resort.

WHERE ARE ALL THE BLACK 2 GALLON BUCKETS?????????

phototropic, I am tired of looking locally, so I will give that website a try unless someone else posts something better. I looked at the website earlier today and always see people posting links but no-one ever said that they bought from there so I was skeptical, plus $3.49 is alot of money for a bucket when I need alot and they are $2.30 for the white ones at HomeDepot. (but I am cheap)

Just curious what kind of package did the buckets come in and who delivered it?

When you factor in the cost of lightproofing the white buckets, $3.49 isn't such a bad deal. Shipping was in a standard cardboard box, and the cheapest shipping option is UPS Ground.

photo, thanks for the input, I will order them, I need to find out how many I need and what net pot will fit the top first.

Wallmart / is my Super store! 5 blocks from my house / Got some seeds in & will start germ. today

Black so that I can assure no light will pass through since there will always be standing water in the bucket I don't want any chance of algae in buckets. The buckets are all tied together with the water supply. Other colors will work I am sure just not thin white buckets but for the most part white and black are the most common that I have seen sold.

Fredster, I tried the "superstore" and they had no buckets, not even the huge 5 gallons. I am waiting on my seeds right now, just setting up a new room for new things :)

I have not tried these yet.....but I will call in the morning to see about s/h.
They have tall 1 gallon pots. The dimensions are 14" tall and only 4" wide. Great for straight down root growth!! I am looking to purchase some pots myself......I am using my Ebb & Flow 8x4 table as the bottom pot for all of the pots. So one tall pot is more what I want. They seel many styles and sizes.

Check em out.....

POTS>>>

Wow HOG thanks for that link. I just may buy a case of those and sell what I don't need. I like the idea of the tall and deep pot.

Botany, you may have already tried this, but last spring I was in kind of the same jam. I needed some 3 gallon buckets for my outdoor grow and ran into the same thing you have, lots of pots, too damned expensive. I noticed every time I went by any nursery they always had a bunch of pots stacked around outside so one day I stopped and was damn glad I did. I picked up a big variety of pots and they sold them to me for .50 per pot. It was the thin black kind. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Dairy queen sells there used ones for like 1.50 a piece, worse case scenario.....

tokinjoe, thanks but I have found places with the thin wall pots. They present two problems: 1. they are too thin to drill and run a gromet and pipe through without cracking and 2. they alway have holes at the bottom. I don't want holes b/c I don't want a huge ebb & flow table (even though I am using the same principle just without the table, for the most part). thanks

hell, I will have to stop by dairy queen and see what they are working with.

to everyone, I know were some small very very sturdy trays are. Go behind any papajohns pizza and there will be alot of them stacked up. They are green and they have been recently changed from the grey ones that were less sturdy. They are used to place the dough balls on. I told you so that you can look at them b/c if you take them that would be stealing and I know that everyone here is a law biting citizen of what-ever country you live in.

HOG, I checked out the website and I am going to call and see if they will send me some samples of the buckets so that I don't make another $100 mistake of buying buckets that I can't use. I know they have the holes in them, but they would be good for another project I had in mind, but the nursery's might have the same used buckets for cheaper. I will check that out, but companies usually send samples for not so much money.

By the end of this I might have some special buckets made in Japan or China. I will have to check on cost, but just thought that it would be cool. Call them BotanyBuckets.

Great link there HOG, I looked at their Rigi pot thingys, and man, theyre great, I bet u could set a great dripper system up using that, And those tall pots are fantastic.
Look at these trays I got to use as an insert on the main tub/tray for the dripper system I am bulding

The ridges and channels in them are just like ion NFT slopes. Only cheapo thin placcy, but they only an insert anyway, not got to take any weight so will be fine.
this next pic is what Im doing with them
as you can see, each tray holds 8 X 11cm pot. These will be fed from drippers

which we be fed by a main line that will run down the centre of the tray, between the rows of pots , 1 main line for each row, so 2 main lines for each tray. I have found a good tub to use as the main tray for this, but Im getting " so I can build a F&D too, I cant stop, lol. I was just making a little system to veg clones a little b4 going to the Aquafarms, but now Im moving it up and doing morelol. Anyway, just wanted to show u, and any tips, advice will be appreciated. I will be experimenting with some other drippers for ythe small and see which ones are best. I want to make a dripper to flower in too, as I like the drip systems. Seems very...precise, would be the way to put it.

Little tip on the DQ buckets: THEY ROCK!! The plastic is (very) thick and green (they are pickle buckets) and doesn't need to be painted at all. Can't beat them for 1.50!! I got a bunch of them, but they are 5 gallon buckets.....but then I love trees LOL

I still haven't checked out the buckets at DQ. I need to get on that, pronto. Anyone check out the trays at PapaJohns? I am interested in seeing what people do with them.

Hello BG, i got 20, 3.5 gallon black buckets from bestcontainer and they are great. They leave a 2 1/2" gap when stacked and they are very sturdy. They are not food grade but i thought i would give em' a try anyway, no problems yet. I dont know if the 2 gallon come in any color except white. Their service and shipping is good also. Overall a great place for buckets. peace, Bonzo :D
