so much mixed views on light reflectors

i have a light hood that is aluminum with circle-ish bumps..

at hightimes... dot com they had a video that said this was one of the best cause no hot spots and stuff... but they had mylar, flat white, etc.

but at cannabis..... dot com they recommend using mylar, at least zandor does...

i have a 5 feet by 5 feet system with 49 plants using 1000w...

should i cover it up with mylar...

mylar is great stuff and I will never grow without it. I get the thick mil...much easier to work with.

here I used the thin stuff and if you click on it you can see the wrinkels.

Eh I've used .5mil and .75mil and both were fine. You just have to be slow and gentle with it, and an extra pair of hands is a big help (if you have the luxury). However I would highly suggest it, the gains are noticeable and it's a cheap one time improvement.

just go with flat white paint...its easy to work with, cheap on cost, and highly reflective...jmo though

I agree flat white is so close to mylar reflective wise its hardly worth the hassle of hanging it when you can just paint

i mean.. i def. don't wanna paint my al. i was think should i put mylar to cover the inside?

See without mylar i'm thinking it can cover more area.. instead of focusing on one spot... cause with a 1000w u don't want it to focus on one spot... so aluminum would probably be best right? or flat white.... with or...

Are you talking about the reflector or the walls? Mylar isn't used in reflectors as it WILL melt. If your reflector already has dimpled aluminum, then it's fine just the way it is. As far as walls go, foylon is about the best but pretty expensive. Mylar is a close second and cheap, but a pain to keep clean. Panda film or white paint is very low maintenance and works great as well...

what a reflector..... honestly dont even need one if you plan and do crop placement b4 hand. if large amounts of light are visable, re- evaluat plant placement, maybe even rasing it a bit off the ground.

sand man.. exactly what i meant... cause at cannabis dot com i thought that's what they meant... so i'll just leave it... i'll use mylar on the floor... i'll just throw it away after every grow....my walls are insulator with bubbles with shiny foil...

fakk2... i have very LOW ceilings where i am growing.. can't do... have a vented hood... and high temps...

thanks guys... i'll let it be.. if it ain't broke.. don't fix it...right?

In that small a space I would go with the Mylar. And since you have a 1Kw to mess with you should be able to get the light pretty far from the plants (especially since that many plants would not let much light thought the canopy anyway). And as for a good reflector design, anything marketed for growing is good but your best off to get one that's adjustable for deferent growing styles and different size areas ect... And about flat white paint, I don't know why everyone says this, flat white is horible for staying clean unless you buy nice paint. I've done simi to high gloss and found it to be vary easy to clean and not fade/wipe away.

P.S. I have also found that waxing the Mylar (plane car wax) helps keep it from getting hazy after cleanings, worth a shot to try.
