emerging industry?

heh. Like hash said, that's a non-starter.

All the best hackers get busted, offered six figure incomes as an alternative to lengthy federal prison sentences to work part time for the government and that's a wrap on internet freedom.

Every single security measure you take on the internet that involves more than simple common sense is a complete waste of your time. TOR et al was busted up as virtually see-through by the feds about a month after it was invented, bet that.

sorry but you wanna see suppression/government control look at north Korea.. or some of the eastern countries that treat women like shit or places in Africa where innocents are burnt alive as witches lol

it could get a whole lot worse.. you got it easy.

however, I do check Hotmail. and they badger me for a phone number to sync to, then if you sign into youtube you need a google account too etc.. it does piss me off. people just waver away their rights signing up to facecrack etc atm but then on ther other hand social networking is a massive trend now.

least the usa is moving towards legalisation..in the uk if you grow, you are gonna be locked up fast.

Tor or PGP

These two pieces of software are great for Internet security.

Tor - Untraceable IPs while surfing

PGP - Pretty Good Privacy encryption software

I put then on a USB stick, so I can use them anywhere without having to install them.

If you are worried about NSA you should be using this stuff.

Peace :tiphat:

Pay attention to posts #3 and #16.

But I think the point is that no transmission of any information is 100% secure, because of the NSA but also because the person you are transmitting info to could be compromised.
But if it makes you feel better, using the above methods will secure your info for most everything below the nation-state level (ie the nsa) and at that level they focus on big fish. Whether that means cartel level, or 100k watt grow op level, may be unclear. But your 10k basement grow is probably in the clear, unless youre supplying clones to an int'l cartel...
