So about this Meao Thai...

Have you guys played with any Meao Thai backcrosses yet? If so can you tell us what crosses where used, and if you found any promising results?

And I guess my other question would be do you guys see a Meao Thai or Meao Thai BX1 seed release?

Hi Bob,

There's no plans for a Meo Thai pure or backcrossed release, it's mainly a CBG line that charlie garcia shared with us. Golden Tiger is probably the strongest meo thai hybrid and of course destroyer: the very tasty and more refined meo thai dominant hybrid.

From seeing that spread in High Times I'd think the best thai cross was the Angola-thai. I've grown out golden tiger but did not like the malawi phenos, even though they were potent the high was definitely not enjoyable.

I understand what you mean Gerardbutler79, malawi effect it is so strong ... not pleasant for all the people, especially if you are more into the gentle clear sativa effects with no body high like angola thai.

I feel malawi is too aggressive, only the harder smokers with very high tolerance will enjoy her deep long lasting effect. Personally i dont think malawi is a good choice to smoke constantly or every day, just a few tokes or a spliff and your day may dramatically change But we are proud to offer a pure sativa line with this extreme potency. Of course you can find more refined and gentle effects in other ace seeds' sativas like tikal, orient express, vietnam black thai ....

i found the length of cure affected the high i was getting. i'm finishing up last years harvested buds ( harvested early november 2011) and the golden tiger high is getting exceptional. i actually saw $hit two nights ago cognitively (mostly) and visually (saw a sliding door open and later close). got a higher conciousness lesson but can't remember it ! i smoke hard every night till i go to sleep. the awareness i achieved on the gts was something i would love to get during deep mediation but can't yet. i have made salads out of a strong narcotic bud mixed with an extremely intense up high bud that have given me grail (grail per my limited smoking experiences) smoke but gt pure is the first straight unblended smoke to do this to me in a very long time. i owe dubi some pics and this years upgraded organics are producing much better results that will be more accurate representations of this strains potential.

Is Malawi actually as strong as I have been reading? I am used to the 'strong' dutch bred stuff, but have had almost no experience of African/Asian landraces. Can the effects really be that different to what I am used to?

The Malawi and Panama are at the top of my to grow list, but have been thinking about doing a quick 9 week grow first. This would mean I have some hazes, Malawi and Panama over Xmas, which would be nice.

Time to look into Malawi more...

i grow outdoors in a season environment that extends past november. the only strain i've got stronger than gt is mota's herijuana.my heri pheno does not need a cure. it smokes strong immediately after a 10 day dry. gt to me smokes weaker until it gets to at least 60 days. i laid off until it got to 90 days cure. after the 90 days cure it smoked just as adverised (heavy,dense). not particularly pleasant high but i mix narcotic bud in for one effect or mix up energetic highs in for another effect. if you are growing indoors the light spectrum might come into play. i have a friend that is using cmh lamps for full sun spectrum. the gts did well under these lamps but the bud formation was smaller. he doesn't grow enough yield to be able to kick bud back for 6-7 months. the gts didn't have the super enjoyable narcotic trip you up a level of consciousness that i got again last night until after the extensive 6 month+cure.

i smoke cigars and have literally thousands of cigars that had 5 years cure on them before they were rolled and i age my best evening cigars that need additional aging for several more years. wine often needs many years to age to its fullest potential. i believe in the long cure for gt because of the repeated excellent effects i am getting. per my research this need for additional curing time to achieve top potential is not uncommon for landraces.

my experience with gt hybrids last year was that gt dominates the gt/adam dank hybrids. i intend to do many crosses out over the years including heri-gt to see what kind of results i get. gt is looking to be my flagship strain for late evening potent trippy effects based on the kind of smoke i'm enjoying now.
