I don't know anything about the criminal justice system in the UK... but if it's at all like the US I would imagine they would have you do a piss-test in the probation department. I suspect they wouldn't necessarily watch you directly, but they might be in the room/make sure you don't bring anything into the bathroom with you (so clandestinely hiding a bottle of clean urine would be difficult, not to mention that if you got caught trying to mess with the sample, there'd likely be significantly painful hell to pay).
When it comes down to it... why risk it? One would imagine there are consequences to not complying with the conditions of your release - probably better not to find out how painful those consequences are, no?

Not familiar with the laws of N.I. but if you are out on bail I take it you haven’t even gone to court yet. Or maybe you mean the tag is part of your sentencing or you are on probation. If your conditions say no drugs I would assume they have every right to drug test you, doesn’t matter if they have to tell you or not. Not knowing what you’re charges are to begin with why would you take the chance of making matters worse?
