yah, suburbanites will call the cops too... and suburban cops dont have anything better to do than harass smokers.
I just keep lights off, music quiet.. really low key. so if a neighbor bothered to call the cops they wouldnt know where to go

i smoked a blunt out on my porch last week and the neighbors were outside, the wind was in my favor but i know some drifted toward them...i got a funny look from the dude like twice and finished my blunt and went inside...and that is where i will stay...no more outdoor blazes on my porch cuz its much safer in here anyway. luckily they didnt do anything drastic

Depends on your neighbors. I used to smoke at my parents house on the deck, and no one ever complained. But if you are concerned about it, I would suggest smoking somewhere else. If you can't smoke inside, smoke in the garage

They "MAY" get a whiff or 2..... Is that really a problem? I know, we LOVE our deck... and when guests come over we can OFTEN be found sharing the sacred sacrament in a circle OR just enjoying the intoxicating effects of the plant.....
We WERE on good terms with ALL our neighbors but do to NO FAULT of our own, we are no longer friendly with our immediate neighbor...... Yet....
they have never complained NOR called the police or anything......
Even though the smoke appears to billow towards the neighbors, by the time it reaches there it probably wafts instead.......
So...... Use caution..... BUT.... I would at least ASSUME that they occasionally get a whiff......
BUT again.... it really depends on how FAR they are..... the direction of the wind, amount of vegetation etc..... I mean in there is a fragrant lilac bush in between, would be different from if there is no greenery and a straight line of sight!
When I grew up, there was a lot along side my house, and I would let the dog run around it while I smoked a joint! This is on the SIDE of my house.... An aquaintence walked past the FRONT of the house, smelled it and searched it the smell..... Well.... suffice to learn that aquaintence was a "weekend head" and HE discovered a new smoking partner!!
Ganja IS very noticeable!! NEVER forget that!!

Shit, ya'lls neighbors must suck. I know mine have seen, smelled and heard me and my brother toking outside, never any problems. I can walk around with the bong on my back porch with out any worries. But then again, most of my neighbors tend to stick to themselves, they aren't super nosy. It's not like I am peeking through the fence into their yards either, so the respect is mutual.
Hell, when I used to walk to my friend's house everyday, you would pass 3 or 4 houses that reeked of smoke, and you could hear people laughing. I never said anything to them, because if someone passed my back fence and asked for a toke I would have just gone inside and been paranoid as all hell.

BUT 1) You must have an outside plug (which most people DO have ) but

it truly is sad that a naturally occuring organism is shunned by society and it is commonplace to be surrounded by people who would like nothing more than to call the police on you and watch you go down.
Shit, one of my good neighbors smokes, and recently had the cops called on him for growing in his backyard. He was flabbergasted, all that is back there is a shit load of other plants, but no pot. The cop was extremely nice about it, and very embarassed that he even had to come and check. "Sir, I have been called out because your neighbor to the right said you are growing marijuana in your yard, can I please have a look? I know you aren't, because there is no smell and I can see that it is just flowers from here." Sure come on back, ain't no weed.
Turns out the neighbor on the right called the cops why?? Because this man is Native American, and not Baptist. Might just need to chuck my seeds in her yard from now on.....
Makes me glad my immediate neighbors are drunks!! They keep to themselves, and when they don't, they are damn happy. Great people are my neighbors, very nice and friendly. Hell, 4 houses down lives a sheriff, never had any problems with him either, very nice fella.

WOW Tarkus! I wonder how your friend reacted to your neighbor lol. Yea I really don't understand the concept of running to the police for everything, especially for a little smoke. I really wonder how people live going to the police all the time or just crying about everything. I could understand a person to ask you to stop smoking in that area if the smoke was hitting them in the face while they were enjoying the outdoors or if the smell was really strong and bothered them...but to the cops is just mind bobbling.

i live in a garden home. no fenced in yard. no trees. i like hitting bowls on my back porch in broad daylight.
honestly, it really sucks being in the burbs'. when i buy a house, i hope to have a lush forrest or a body of water in my backyard where i can burn and look at natures beauty at the same time.

Where I live there is about 50-100ft. worth of wooded area separating the houses behind me. It sucks during fall though because if they look out their window they can see everything around the back of my house. I always get paranoid and hope they don't think I'm trying to stare into their house while I sit in the back...

In a city environment, if you can get access to a roof, that's just as good, if not better because yo can watch everybody pass by and see what's going on without them seeing you or knowing who you are. If you live on the 3rd floor and up, you can open a window and puff away. The only problem is if it's a windy day, the smoke will blow back on you and stink up your room and you.

only 1 neighbor can see anyways, and they used to smoke so i expect no probs so long as i aint lighting up a fatty in front of their kids...
i posted a pic of my little pond that used to be there in a thread that talked about smoking outside...
its gone because of the drought, but it was nice to sit back in the garden and smoke a bowl by the sweet flag as my pal would say....
