I hate smoking at work. It ruins work and it ruins the high. It is like two different worlds colliding

You?

When I used to work at Toys R Us, it depended on what I was doing.
If I was working the register, no way man, so many assholes goin that place. Plus I wouldn't ever want to handle cash when I was high, especially when my register was extremely busy and I had to move fast.
However when I was working the floor, walking around straightening boxes, pulling things to the front, putting things people had a change of heart over back on shelves, or helping people (the most fun part, nobody could ever tell i was stoned, made me better at acting straight around the general public) I could get away with getting high all the time.
None of my managers ever bothered me. I walked in with my uniform on, went to one of those things where you scan a product to get the price (only if i scanned my ID it would clock me in) and go to work.
Usually I knew what I was gonna do that day but sometimes I would walk over to Customer service and ask one of the ladies if I was on register or floor.. sometimes i think they knew I was baked and told me to stay in the imaginarium (which was great, because I could walk around aimlessly picking up boxes of legos and playing with the train sets with little kids and shit, helping grandmothers find the board game aisle etc)

So much fun going outside to "gather carts" and come back in after taking a few hits out of a 1 hitter ready to go to work

sometimes at work i have to function at a mental capacity that wouldn't be possible if i was high. even then, i am in a position so that if i mess up something could go seriously wrong and injure somebody. super duper bad karma man. but even still i have smoked before work, after and once on lunch breaks... but not any more...

Back when I worked at a veterinarian hospital, I came in to work stoned to the bone every day for a little over 3 years. Absolutely gone. The doc knew it, hell he drank every day, after surgeries of course. They all knew it and didn't care, partly because they all smoked at one point or still do, but mostly because I was a damn good employee. First one there everyday, and usually one of the last ones to leave. Every dog and cat loved the hell out of me (save a few psychos!!) even the anti-social ones. There were more than a few dogs that liked me and only me. Would try to kill the doc, so I would have to do checkups and shots and whatnot on them. The best part was surgeries!! Plus, I lived 5 minutes away and got a 2-3 hour lunch usually. Go home, get high and come back. Great job, absolutely the best.
When I worked cleaning mold and water damaged homes, being high was very easy also. The only thing is I had to make sure to use Rhoto-V because I would be going in to people's homes. Plus, everyone there was pretty religious and up tight, so I had to keep it hidden. No problem though.
I just quit my 3rd job today (moving in with daisy jane pretty soon:dance:  ) and it was easy as hell. Prepping apartments that people moved out of so my boss could paint them. We also built a few new apartments at another complex, and boy was that tedious. I must have swept the same 3 buildings 87 times, each unit too. Not bad, but damn does insulation piss me off when I am stoned!!!

I used to have a job as a shipping/receiving manager for a small company of about 40 people. Most of the employees were women. Come break time we would light up about 5 J's and start passing them around a 14 person circle. Even my boss would light up with me! :joint: It was great. The day went buy quicker, I was able to work without focusing on the backbreaking labor, and I was HIGH! It was the perfect situation.
Now I work in the medical industry and can't afford any blunders for my patients safety or for my own conscious. I wait till I get home to light up.

I always go to work when I am stoned. It makes time go by a lot faster. Of course I think it depends on what you're doing. Right now I am only working as an office cleaner so it doesn't really matter if I am baked when I go to clean toilets or anything else as long as I remember which product to use on what. (Which is not hard.)
But since I am a college student I view my schoolwork as work as well. When I go to classes I am normally also fairly stoned and I still average in the honor society/on the dean's list. When I graduate from the university I am attending now and move onto teaching I will probably do that job stoned as well because as far as I can tell I function pretty well and an retain the subject matter now when I am stoned. I have also worked as a tutor and I did that job stoned as well.
It must just be in my nature.

I'm a nursing major and I have no probs going to school baked. I just don't fly high in the upper level classes like Med-Surg.
Just out of curiosity....what is your major Queen?

It depends entirely on where you work, and what type of work you do. If i had a labor-related job then I wouldnt want to smoke before or during work.

If you work from home then you can obviously smoke as much as you want!

And if you have a creative job, for example - artist, author, of any varying description, then you may find uplifting/energetic sativas like C99, A11, Grapefruit etc etc to actually help get your creative juices flowing, as opposed to perhaps losing motivation from a heavy indica.

I have a hard labouring kind of job and smoke when possible (usually more than once a day while at work) Makes time go quicker and the work easier

Where I work the regular cannabis users are the most reliable and best workers that work in the place. They keep to themselves and focus on their work. They don't complain as much and are more friendly. I manage a few stoners and I turn a blind eye when I know they've been smoking because it really doesn't effect their work. If it did effect them to the point where they can't get the job done then there would be a problem. I imagine most managers are this way. Make your boss's life easier and they'll love you.

I moved furniture for a few years, and there is NO way you could do a decent job moving furniture if you're stoned. You're all stoned, you forget when you're walking backwards while carrying a china cabinet that there's 4 steps outside the house instead of 3, and you could lose your job, let alone hurt yourself or others.

On the other hand, I've also done cleaning at night, and I would blaze almost constantly, because it was so mindless of a job, but I got fired from that job :)

Now, my job is growing weed, so I think it would be reallllly weird if I weren't smoking on the job site...

When I used to work at an animal hospital, being stoned and working in the back was great. There is nothing better than getting high and being paid to take care of animals. But I did not like working up front with the clients when I was stoned. Answering the phones non-stop and dealing with asshole clients, blech, no thanks. Give me a joint and a puppy any day...

Shit, when I worked mold/water damage repair, I always had to move peoples' furniture before we could get to the problem. And the houses we were in were damn nice, every single one we went to were in million dollar communities. Very expensive shit, very expensive. One house was brand new, cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 million.
I thought it was much easier being stoned out of my mind, because I would walk into the room and immediately remember where everything went, which made the owners very happy. Plus, I was very anal about cleaning every spec of everything, again, making the owners very pleased. I also got along great with every owner, and they all thought I was a wonderful person.
When everyone else comes in possibly hungover, the stoned person looks positively wonderful.
