There is no standard template on this site. Some members do use that form above. But it is not needed. I like to hear about the strain in your own words and in your own instance. That to me is better, more desirable reading. So lets see some literary skills.
That template may be handy for the person doing the review but for the people reading they're awful.
You only need a four main points - Looks, Smell, Taste, High describe each of these then overall personal thoughts/impressions of the bud.
People may like to add some editorial such as the situation you're smoking it in how you're feeling/what they've been doing that day smoking method etc. whatever but the 4 main points are the only bits you really need.
If you need inspiration head over to smokersguide.com
I agree wholeheartedly with Hammerhead, the reports using that form suck, bigtime. They provide little useful information such as the explanation of the high, how long in forming and holding, taste description that can be read and understood and, hey, what about the f*-?:ing YIELD? C'mon, that's integral in my decision-making process in choosing a new strain to grow. Just answer the basic questions a grower would naturally and curiously have. If anyone EVER uses that form again, it will be too soon! Just my 2 cents but obviously I hold some passion on this point.
LOL he askt for it...And btw i agree a smokereport is better with ya own words....but this it the template of Treating yourself magazine....if you fill it in and add some pix you also can send it in as a report...and maybe it will be printed !
We wrote this report on cannabis world several years ago. It was a project that ran
for several weeks. Many people contributed to the content. I guess I would be to
blame for the format. However, there was a purpose to that format. The true intent
was to write a template that another program could later read. In other words data
processing input forms or a community constructed data base. Had this format
survived without edits you could now collect all the submissions and have a searchable
database. If you want strawberry flavored, non-sedative bud good for spasms and
back pain you would be able to find it more easily. I wouldnt call the project a
failure though as this template is on multiple sites as a standard. The various
formats increase the challenge but perhaps some day someone will collect the
reports from the sites that use it and build that database. I have to agree that
they were certainly more fun to fill out than to read...
i agree that smoke template has all good intentions but it is not exciting at all to read..and i feel a little let down when i see it in a new smoke report..i just jump to the summary to get my taste.
perhaps someone could create that template as a web based form to collect the data online and store it in a file, but require a more in depth and detailed 'entertaining' description to remain posted... basically just a picture of said bud, smell, taste, and detailed high spanning over 1-2 hours, including the rise, peak, and fall..and with a set amount to be smoked, like 2-4 nice hits only..or one bowl, or one hitter..and all should be rated on the same scale 1-10/ and amount smoked.
i had ideas about the cannabis cup(s) also..i think it should be limited to maybe 7-10 strains that make it into the top 10 sativa or indica to be judged from the previous cups..and evaluated over 10 days .. only one strain should be smoked and reviewed at a time, one PER DAY, rather then strain after strain after strain, because then you can't tell them apart, one high influences the other, etc. each one should get a fresh start in the morning on a clean clear head, and used all day and evaluated that way. if you can't stay in amsterdam for 10-14 days, then don't judge..
but just typing out loud...don't have to listen to me..
i like the report. very detailed. and its not fixed. you can always add a narrative or custom description at the bottom in your own words under "final comments". i think it combines the best of both worlds, but will address questions that people dont answer in their report. in their "highness" they might forget to mention certain info and end up getting several follow up posts for things that could have been addressed initially. guess you could always scroll to the end of the report if you dont need all the other mumbo jumbo.
