Smart Pots .. Reusing soil ?

I have a 100 gallon smart pot I used last year .. Got just under 2lbs out of the pot . I noticed that the soil was still beautiful with minimal roots compacting things .. It was mainly a Happy Frog castings mix .. Seems terrible to waste all that dirt .. I was going it just add more castings and a bag of ocean forest and pop my Kosher Kush clone in.. Is this doable ? Thx in advance . Peace .

if your adding fresh OF back it may be ok

once in the past i've tried just straight recycling FFOF and using bottled "organic nutes" and had a hell of a rollercoaster of issues - ratios of minerals/nutes all out of whack, lockouts, deficiencies, soil ph, etc.....

i just start fresh each now and way less issues

If you want to start recycling soil there is plenty of info in the organic soil section, you can't add only one amendment!!

Definitely dont toss it, what i would do is dump it, add some compost and other goodies, (kelp, alfalfa, etc.), mix it and call it good. you can even just top dress all that stuff itlf itll be too much for you to dump and mix. Its been a while since I used FF or HF but im sure it can use some help. Have you ever tried any of the easy DIY organic mixes you see guys running like the Coots Mix? Itll be cheaper and youll have way more predictable results over just HF. You can get kits with all the fancy ammendments ready to go, just add peat or coco, compost, and aeration. Best luck hopefully you can double your harvest this year.

Thx for the well wishes ✌️.. It's kind of an experiment for me .. I'm going to add perlite , castings and ocean forest , a little lime and go for it .. There's always room to learn .

I've been using the same soil for 15 years+ no issues but I let i go fallow with alfalfa and turn it under every other grow, I use organic amendments and let it compost out. I carried in bags and bags over the years( not going to do that at my age 65) think about it we are using the same farmlands and water from eons ago. get your soils/water tested every year. its cheap insurance.
