If you're talking about soil, i've gone down to 4L (1 gallon) pots with decent results.
Maybe you can push the limit a little more but with soil pot size matters...

Peace

I guess you could get a crap tonne of two liter bottles into the space though I would lean toward very tall slim grow bags with two gallon capacity or higher. Trouble is finding them, then again you could just make them yourself. End result is that if you are wanting to jam a lot into a small space, you do need to give your plants the opportunity to form some nice roots. Tall containers should help out in this respect.

Best example I can give is about six little dwarfs that I popped into fairly shallow two gallon containers because I had the pots sitting around and did it on a whim. Dumb move cause now all of them nice and thick and healthy and only a max of six inches tall. Heh. Total bonehead move but oh well. They are nearly done and I did not need the space right that moment.
All the others I have done had much more root space and do much better with that space, so since you don't have a lot of depth or width, go tall.

My self have found that autos tap roots like to go deep :D so i don't think the pots size matters as much as the depth of the pot... the 2 - 3 ltr soda bottles do pretty well..

i am trying out PVC pipping atm... 1 meter in length :D i will report my results in a few months:D

good pheno, masakrator's auto ak47 grown under 400w hps / +- 10 litre pot

this cracked me up,, thx for the laugh
Haha...seriously...was shot glass size. Some peep was ragging on him saying he just stuck a small flowering branch in some soil...but then rinsed off the soil and showed the roots. This was from OverGrow if I'm remembering right...seemed legit. He did have to water the plant a lot though.

i dont really believe thats an auto plant in the pic, but it probally suited its purpose of creating alot of buzz about auto-ak to all who saw it though and helped sell some seeds.

Fair play to you shroomy, that is a grand idea.
I had been planning on doing my next one in a couple of two liter bottles grafted together to make a nice deep tube but I have to say other than the having to drop a little coin, I really like the idea of the pvc.
