Smaller pots more plants or bigger pots less plants?

So my current grow is getting close to the final stage, its about 2 weeks away from harvest. On my next run i was wondering should i continue to grow with the pots i have now which are 5 1/2" wide x 6" tall and grow 6 plants total or should i switch to bigger pots which are 7 1/2" wide x 7" tall and grow 4 plants instead? My grow tent have enough room to fit 6 plants in there perfectly if its with the smaller pots but with the bigger pots im going to have to run fewer plants.

I want to know if my yield will increase going from these smaller pots to the bigger ones? My current grow right now i have 5 plants in the smaller pots and from the look of it im guessing im going to average about half a oz to a oz per plant. Would growing in the bigger pots increase my yield, or is the size different of the pots to small to see any noticeable change?

It depends on if you think you might ever have to go to court. Let's say you got 25 pots that give you 1 oz per and compare that to say a bucket that will give you 4-6 oz per.

I would want to answer to having 6 plants compared to 25 any day of the week.

I say ebb and flow buckets all day long if your looking for quantity with little space and less work and trouble.

Are you growing in dirt or coco, or is this hydro? Those are pretty tiny pots for dirt! Bigger pots = more room for roots = bigger plants = bigger yield.

Sorry forgot to mention its grown in soil. My grow tent is limited in height it's only 3ft tall so I can't be growing giant plants in there. I just wanted to see which would be the best route to take based on my situation to get a better final yield.

Bigger plants yield more per harvest. Smaller (and thus, faster) plants yield more per year. When I did SOG I ran 24-36 plants and averaged anywhere from 50-100 in various stages. With ScrOG, I have one plant that provides more than I can handle. I'd rather get caught with 1 than 100. Personally, I wouldn't run more pots than I had strains.

i basically have the same space as you do except for the face im using my closet. but what i would suggest is using 1-2 gal pots ( 10 inches) this will allow the roots to grow more, therefore creating a bigger yield. also if you are afraid of the plats getting to tall, i would recommend trying LST, that is what i am doing for my second grow , since i saw that my first grow got too tall because i just let it grow sstraight..

hoefully this helps

In that space & especially cuz of the head room , i'd grow 1 to 2 plants max . 3 gallon shallow buckets & tie & train them to keep them short & wide . then put a scrog net over them & continue with the training into the net till its 75% full & flip the switch to 12/12 .I did this with a 3 x3 space with a little more head room than you have & pulled 12 oz from 2 girls .

2 of them have 8 plants each spaced evenly. the last has 6 of special cuts spaced evenly. Each container has about 45 gallons of soil. 2 of them were vegged for 4 to 5 weeks after transplant and the third for three weeks.

no drain. I water them about every 2 weeks when they are new. Only compost tea, yucca extract, humic acid and kelp extract added to the water.

and I did tie them down on the first 2 but just Hurd smapped and staked on the last one.

I'm a huge fan of the no-drain totes; super clean, easy, and flexible. I've run anywhere between 1 and 4 plants in my 20 gallon tote.

Yeah those are 2 gallon coco hempy buckets with perilite in the rez . they were vegged for 4 weeks then put into flower with the net put over them then . they are SSH & they stretch like theres no tomorrow . these girls stretched for more than 3 weeks which is why hey got so tall over the net , they kinda got away from me .
but the idea is the same . 2 plants under your light & with some training , you'll have a grand harvest . :)

have you considered going scrog with like 2-3 plants .you should think about it. you can get more yield off a 2-3 plant scrog then straight up more plants. i have seen a one pound plant scrog in a small cabinet under 400 watt i could not be-leave it .but its true .just think with a 3 plant scrog under 600hps .its what i was thinking i was going to do with my ssdh ,double strawberry diesel, and my mr.nice the doors witch is a 14+ week strain so very hazey .i think a sativa leaning plant in smaller spaces are made for scrogs.
i did one scrog on my 2nd grow and did good .i like growing organic .but i have a tent its a home box XL .so it would be perfect for a 3-4 plant scrog .one in each corner .
